Happy Fourth of July!

 ,

Summer is here in a big way and we are ready for this new season here at Piazza.  There are lots of summer essentials for pairing with this season's bountiful produce.  I love summer because cooking well is so easy-- a sprinkle of herb salt and extra virgin olive oil are all you need to make summer vegetables pop and grilled meats shine.  When it comes to these staples, Piazza has got you covered.

Local tomatoes are just showing up and there is plenty of mozzarella for caprese salad.  Our white balsamic vinegar is perfect over a caprese salad or in a pasta salad because it adds a lot of flavor without a dark stain.  Of course we can help you find the right olive oil to drizzle over both of these things.

These are just a couple ideas to get your mouth watering!  We are here to help you find a way to make this summer more delicious.

If you need something last-minute, we will be open from 10-2 tomorrow, July 4th and from 11-3 on Sunday, July 6th.

See you at Piazza,

Emily

New Items

Dancing Fern
- Inspired by the French cheese Reblochon but this cheese was made outside Chattanooga (try and say that word with a French accent). The taste is delicately mushroomy with complex secondary flavors like those you might find under a fern leaf--walnut & earth. An American Cheese Society winner two years in a row!

Truffle Tremor - The makers of Humboldt Fog took the cheese and speckled it with black truffle to make this earth-shakingly good goat tomme.  We think that the truffle flavor is clear and stops short of taking over the wonderful flavor of the goat cheese.  Try some on a burger for a decadent twist this fourth of July.

Fresh Chorizo - D'artagnan knows meat and these sausages made in the Mexican style are no exception.  They are flavorful without being spicy and along side grilled new potatoes and corn on the cob with lime they make a delicious and easy dinner from the grill.

Look at crazy Dario in his walk in cooler
Profumo del Chianti - Dario Cecchini is Italy's most famous butcher and this is his proprietary blend of herb salt.  It is perfect for sprinkling over toasted bread with olive oil (classic bruschette) or the giant bisteccas that he is famous for selling in Panzano.

Hulivo Olive Oil from the Marche - The Marche region is home to the Ascolana varietal of olive that is known for its distinct flavor reminiscent of fresh tomato vines.  This uniquely-flavored olive is found in abundance in this new olive oil from that region on the Adriatic coast.

Upcoming Event

Domenica Marchetti is returning to Piazza this summer so please stay tuned for a date.  Not only will she be available to sign copies of her two most recent books, The Glorious Vegetables of Italy and The Glorious Pasta of Italy but she will also be promoting her upcoming culinary tours.

Domenica's family is from Abruzzo, a region in Italy with a very rich food culture that doesn't get the press it deserves.  To guide you through this mysterious territory, Domenica has partnered up with Abruzzo Presto to offer an eight day tour of the culinary treasures of Abruzzo.  Excursions include sampling local olive oil, sampling wine at a regional winery, a lesson on making porchetta on a spit and exploring the countryside for local ingredients.
