NEW SEASON, NEW ROUTES!

Yakutia Airlines is extending its Alaska-Kamchatka service to Yakutsk this summer

This summer, Yakutia Airlines is incorporating the Russian city of Yakutsk into its Alaska-Russian Far East Service. Direct, one-stop, flights from Anchorage to Yakutsk will operate weekly from July 11 to August 29. Travelers from Alaska will be able to have breakfast in Anchorage and arrive in Yakutsk in time for lunch. The flights will operate via signature destination Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

Yakutsk is the capital of the Russian republic of Sakha, and the largest city in the world built on permafrost. It is renowned for diamonds, mammoths, and temperature extremes - over the course of a year, the temperature typically ranges from -43F to 78F.

The convenient schedule will allow for same-day connections at Petropavlovsk and Yakutsk to/from Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Moscow, and other cities throughout Russia. 2015 marks Yakutia Airlines' fourth season of passenger and cargo service between the Russian Far East and  Alaska.

Yakutia Airlines will not operate flights between Khabarovsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in 2015 as previously announced. Instead, AirRussia.US is offering travel on this route via partner airlines Aeroflot/Aurora and S7. Contact AirRussia.US ( sales@airrussia.us) to arrange your through travel to Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Moscow and other Russian destinations.

KAMCHATKA NATIVES
Kamchatka Natives

Inviting and mysterious Kamchatka with its volcanoes, geysers, coves, and rocks, and also with profound history has long attracted tourists. Originally, it was inhabited by indigenous minorities of the North. These peoples populated all of Siberia, as well as the northern and eastern Asian territories occupied by Russia. These were true Kamchatka "Natives." The Asian tribes were conquered by squadrons, sent by the Russian tsar to collect yasak (a tribute paid in furs). Armed Cossacks were the first among white people who reached Kamchatka and joined it to the Empire.

Are there any aboriginal tribes left in Kamchatka? - No doubt. Do they live in compact communities? Have they preserved their distinctive cultures, traditions, and ways of life? Read more...
