82st Annual Cumberland Valley Artists Exhibition

The Washington County Arts Council, Inc. Award for work of art by a Washington County, Maryland resident has been awarded to Roy Steele of Hagerstown, Maryland

for the acrylic on panel painting, Still Waters. This piece has also been chosen as Best of Show, an award sponsored by the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts

Exhibit runs from October 4, 2014 - January 11, 2015.

Wind Down is adding a bonus night..."Freaky Friday" on October 17th! Enjoy live music from "River Knot". Wear your costumes, young and old! Downtown Movement is hosting a Costume Contest! There will be hay rides through the downtown area, kid's crafts, face painting plus celebrity pumpkin carvers! 
 

 

Maryland Symphony Orchestra Opens

Masterworks Series with Twin Pianists

Performing Mozart's Concerto for

Two Pianos and Orchestra

Steinway artists Christina and Michelle Naughton will perform Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra, No. 10 in E-flat Major. The concerts will take place on Saturday, October 11 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 12 at 3:00 p.m. at the historic Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown. The orchestra will also perform Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major. Tickets may be purchased online at www.marylandsymphony.org, by phone at 301-797-4000, or in person at the MSO Office at 30 W. Washington Street. 



Bodices for Goddesses
 
Hagerstown Community College will feature the mixed media art exhibit Bodices for Goddesses at the Kepler Gallery at HCC, 11400 Robinwood Dr, Hagerstown opening October 5th and running through October 30th. The reception for the exhibit will be Friday October 10th, from 7 - 9 p.m. The reception and exhibition is free and open to the public.


2014 Mountain Maryland Art Sale & Tour

This event is a celebration of the rich arts community we have in our region.

Coordinated by the Allegany Arts Council on behalf of the many talented visual artists here in Western Maryland, the tour has grown to become a highly anticipated annual event.

 

Timed to coincide with the beautiful fall foliage throughout our region, the dates for the

2014 Mountain Maryland Art Sale and Tour are

Saturday and Sunday, October 18 & 19 and

Saturday and Sunday October 25 & 26.

On all 4 days of the event, all participating Tour Locations will be free and open to the public from

11:00AM to 5:00PM

King Features popular Barney Google and Snuffy Smith comic strip by John Rose runs in hundreds of newspapers worldwide. Rose enjoys doing Snuffy Smith Chalk Talks in libraries and meeting fans of the long-running comic strip afterwards. 

 

In 2013, The Bodacious Best of Snuffy Smith by John Rose book collection was published and features over 350 of Rose's favorite Snuffy Smith comic strips.
The book will be available for purchase and autographing.
