Northwood Founders Day receives Real Ale Relief
A real ale cask of Oatmeal Stout will be tapped on Saturday, Sept. 13 in honor of Northwood Founder's Day. All the proceeds from the keg will go to the Founder's Day committee as recipients of WBC's Real Ale Relief program.
Central Avenue in Northwood will be hopping with one of the biggest car shows in the region, Norwegian goodies and other food, inflatables, flea market and more than 30 vendors.
The activity begins with an omelet breakfast at the fire station from 7 until 10 a.m. Street activities run until late afternoon.
A "pre-dedication" of the restored Stromstein Building will take place at mid day.
The Real Ale Relief program aids non-profits in north Iowa and southern Minnesota. Several times a year all proceeds from one cask of "Real Ale" is donated to a local non-profit. Recipients are encouraged to tap the keg in the Northwood Tap Room and distribute information about their projects.
Real Ale, or cask conditioned ale, is a traditional English beer with natural carbonation served direct by gravity from the cask at the bar.
"We're blessed to have received such good support from our customers over the past seven years and are fortunate to be able to give back to the community," said co-owner Margaret Bishop.
