City of Westland Municipal Offices Moving to New City Hall

The City of Westland municipal offices will be moving to the much anticipated new City Hall, 36300 Warren Road, (the former Circuit City) on Friday, September 26, 2014.  The current City Hall at 36601 Ford Road will be open from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on September 26 for limited service including accepting payments for water bills or other fees.  However, most employees will be reporting to the new City Hall to begin moving City files and records with the new City Hall set to be open and ready for business at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014.

"The move to our new City Hall is an historic event for our All American City;" commented Mayor William R. Wild.  "For the first time in almost 50 years, municipal services will be conducted in a new, state of the art, welcoming and ADA-compliant facility;" Wild continued.

The retrofitted 64,000 square foot facility, ideally located in the heart of Westland's "Shop and Dine" district, is a $10 million retrofit of a long vacant commercial building, being funded with tax revenues generated by the City's Tax Increment Finance Authority.  This move will result in a more functional City Hall, with 5 times the space, allowing The Department of Public Service Administration, the Building and Planning Departments, the Youth Assistance Program and the City's Cable Department, WLND, to join the current City Hall Departments under one roof.

"We ask for your patience as we conduct the move to our new offices and I would remind everyone that during the move, the drop box located behind the current Ford Road City Hall will remain open and be accessible around the clock for making utility payments or dropping off other documents for City officials;"  Mayor Wild continued.

Beginning Monday, September 29, residents may conduct City business at the new City Hall. Regular business hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m.  - 5:00 p.m.
