It's Food Program Enrollment Time

Hello friends,

The Thanksgiving holiday is fast approaching and many of us at Rainbow Fleet are looking forward to turkey, dressing, pumpkin pie and to spending time with family and friends.

The holiday season just seems to get busier and busier each year, with more to do and less time in which to do it. One item you should add to your list is to sign up or renew your application for the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

This U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program helps children receive the nutrition they the need by reimbursing child care providers for serving meals and snacks that meet federal requirements. The program is free and all family child care providers licensed by the Department of Human Services are eligible.

Rainbow Fleet sponsors the program and we can assist you through all stages of the application process. Once you're accepted, we can help you plan a menu that meets the USDA requirements. We can also help with nutrition questions, and assist you with federal regulations for food service and sanitation as well as help you navigate the claims submittal process.

This is an opportunity to save money while providing nutritious meals for the children in your care. It's great for your bottom line and great for the kids too. Call us today to learn more.

Speaking of saving money, our friends at Easter Seals are offering free autism screenings, starting this month. The screenings are for children ages 6 months to 6 years. Easter Seals is also offering several free trainings over the next few months. Visit Easter Seals online to learn more.

We've also recently learned of an OU Health Science Center study interested in talking with child care providers about creating healthier environments for children. If you would like to share your experiences, please contact Susan Sisson (405) 271-8001, ext. 41173 or [email protected].

That's all for now. Enjoy this wonderful fall weather and happy Thanksgiving.

P.S.

We recently kicked off our annual fundraising campaign. The programs and services we offer come at a cost and that's where you can help. Consider a donation to our organization, and tell the families you serve about us. Every little bit helps. Thank you for supporting Rainbow Fleet!

Resource Center Item of the Month

The kids will have a wild time with this noise game. Imitate the animal noises while matching the cards. What fun!
