The SDITE Year End Board Meeting was held earlier this month at the site of the SDITE 2016 Annual Meeting in Nashville, TN.

More information will come out in the near future about some of the topics discussed.  But rest assured, the Board is working hard for you.

Reminder: SDITE 2015 Call for Presentations

The Deep South Section of ITE, in cooperation with the SDITE Technical Knowledge Team, is now accepting abstracts for the 2015 Southern District ITE Annual Meeting, to be held April 19-22, 2015, at the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi. Presenting at the 2015 SDITE Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to share your ideas, knowledge, expertise, and innovations with your peers.  Please see this link for suggested topics and abstract submittal information.

Please submit your abstract in PDF format via email by January 30, 2015 to [email protected].  Should you have any questions, you may reach Steve Strength, Technical Committee Chair at [email protected]  (this is different from the address for submitting abstracts) or at (225) 767-9118.

SDITE 2015 Update

Update from the 2015 Biloxi Meeting LAC

Sponsorship opportunities will be available mid-January. An email will be sent out one week and one day ahead of time and sponsorships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. See www.2015SDITE.org for additional information.

The Call for Presentations is also available on-line. The meeting theme is "Coasting to the Future". Please consider offering your experiences and ideas about what the future holds for our profession.

Sunday is FUN-day! Various opportunities to enjoy the Gulf Coast will be available on Sunday, April 19, 2014. For the golfers, tee times at Shell Landing will be offered for around $100. Sporting Clays are back as a new tradition begins to take root, and a Deep Sea Fishing Excursion will be organized for those who want to take a ride to the blue water to catch big fish such as tuna, red snapper, amberjack and grouper! Lastly an on-your-own trip to Ship Island will be advertised for beachgoers, a great family trip. See http://www.msshipisland.com/ for additional information.

Depending on interest, golf is expected to start late morning or early afternoon. Sporting Clays are tentatively scheduled for the afternoon, while Deep Sea Fishing and Ship Island are all day events.

Best bet would be to arrive Saturday if any of these interest you and/or your family.

SDITE Award Committee

The Southern District of ITE is preparing for its annual award ceremony to be held at the Annual Banquet on April 21, 2015.  The Awards Committee is looking for your help to identify worthy candidates for the following five prestigious awards.

Traffic Bowl Update

The International ITE Traffic Bowl Committee has voted to include the Highway Safety Manual as a reference manual to be used in the competition in 2015.

There are over 1500 members in SDITE.  If each of you sent one Traffic Bowl question to Richard Caudle on this new category, he'd have enough questions to last a lifetime (and one very full inbox).  Therefore, I ask you to take 5 minutes out of your busy schedule to write one question.  Richard and his entire committee would be very appreciative!

ITE Updates

From: Rick Day

At the lnternational ITE's Board of Directors Meeting on November 14-15, 2014, International President Hibbett Neel swore in ITE's newest elected leaders for the calendar year 2015:

* Four new lnternational ITE board members, including Bob Murphy.

Hibbett will continue on ITE's executive committee as past President.

ITE' s nominating committee met on November 15th to interview potential candidates for International Vice President Elect. The candidates you will see on the ballot for the 2015 election are:

* Shawn Leight - Midwestern District (D4)

Both are excellent candidates.

I invite all of you to our next Southern District meeting in Biloxi, MS (April 9-22, 2015) to meet them and discuss the issues and opportunities for ITE.
