It's Finally Here!

Men's Breakfast this Saturday
 All men are invited to attend the monthly Men's Breakfast this Saturday, September 20 as we enjoy a hearty meal and launch the season's series of Impolite Conversations: Christian Perspectives on Money, Sex, Politics and Death. Our first meeting will feature our own Rev. Jeff Fishwick as he shares his thoughts about money. Breakfast begins at 8:00 AM and you'll be out the door by 9:30 AM. Youth Ministry Updates
Youth Group Returns this Sunday at the Garage! Join us for new games, fellowship, worship, and a glimpse into our new theme. Mid-Highs meet from 5:00-6:30 PM and Senior Highs from 6:30-8:00 PM.
New Volunteer Training this Sunday at 2:30-3:30 PM in the Garage Cafe. If you're interested in learning about new volunteer opportunities at the Garage, join us for a conversation about volunteer roles, expectations, and training.

Apprentice: The Good & Beautiful Life 
There are so many things meant for us to have as Christians: peace, joy, love, patience, and so much more. But how do we constantly live in Christ's grace? Join us for
Apprentice 2: The Good and Beautiful Life: Putting on the Character of Christ, by James Bryan Smith. This book uses study, discussion and simple spiritual practices as a method to teach us transformation. This study is open to all adults, and participation in Apprentice 1 is not required. Feed Your Soul with Creative Journaling
Feeding the Soul is a fun adult formation opportunity for personal meditation using art and prayer. The program will consist of collage, painting and making lines. Don't consider yourself "artistic?" Join us! The only real requirement is an open mind and a few supplies. We will discuss the use of paints, inks, and other media used in art journals. Begins Tuesday, September 30 from 9:30-12:00 and meets weekly for 6 weeks. Register now.

New "Launch in Progress" Group Is your "nest" feeling a little empty with no children or less children than before? Join others like you for fellowship and support at a brown bag picnic at 12 PM on Sunday, September 28.
Just bring your lunch and gather in the Library. The goal of this group is to create a supportive community for families experiencing a "launch-in-progress" of college-aged children through regular meeting times and a Facebook group.

What a joyful celebration!
Last Sunday, over 115 youth gathered to share a meal, listen to the great music of the John Callaway Band, and to kick off a new school year in the Garage. It was magical to see our young people standing arm in arm, singing hymns together. Many of the students didn't know the person next to them but they still interlocked arms and no one was left out. You should have heard the cheers as the locations of next year's Youth Mission Trips were announced! Washington, DC for Mid-Highs and Savannah, GA for Senior High. It was truly CCE at its best.
Other tidbits from evening include over 40 parents attending the Parent's Meeting (3x as many as last year) and a trunk-load full of canned food was collected and donated to the Central Virginia Food Bank.
Special thanks to Lynn Williams for organizing the event and to Adam Williams for being an excellent leader; he clearly has a connection with our youth.
