Are you starting to count down the last days of summer before school starts?
We hope that all of you have had a great restful summer with lots of time for family and friends.
Please read on for updates about online registration and what you need to bring to Walk-Through Registration so that you can receive your child's teacher assignment!
You can also learn about upcoming events -- like Welcome Back Coffee on the first day of school; the Back to School Family Social on Friday, Sept. 12; and Parent's Night Out on Friday, Oct. 3 -- as well as find out more information about various options available during fall registration.

Walk-Through Registration
Date: Wednesday, August 20
Time: 9 am to 12 pm, 6 pm to 8 pm

Fall registration update
Online registration codes mailed out
Walnut Grove is using a new online system for fall registration. Online registration codes were mailed to registered students on Aug. 11. If you have not received your student's code by Aug. 15, please call the school office at 426-4250.
Online registration must be completed by Aug. 20. If you do not have access to a computer, you can use the computers at the public library. The school computer lab will also be available at Walk-Through Registration.
Emergency Card news
We learned late last week that emergency cards will not be available to fill out during online registration.
Instead, you will need to pick up your student's emergency card at Walk-Through Registration and review it for accuracy. You will also need to add your student's medical and insurance information, as well as authorized pickup contact information.
Bring the following to Walk-Through Registration:
- Online registration receipt
- Signature page from online registration (be sure your student signs the signature page too!)
- TWO proofs of residency
- Information for your student's emergency card
- Health insurance information
- Your student's medical information
(medical conditions and medications)
- Contact information for adults who are authorized to pick up, care for, and authorize medical services for your student
Please also bring your checkbook if you opted to pay by check during the online registration process.

Walnut Grove school supply kits
School supply kits are a suggested, voluntary contribution to your child's class and include all of the essentials for the school year...pencils, binders, notebooks, markers, glue, scissors, etc. School supply kits also provide science lab notebooks; a case of copy paper per class; and student planners for those in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
You can purchase a school supply kit for your child during online registration or at Walk-Through Registration.
Many of you purchased school supply kits for your children in the spring. However, if you are unsure, you can check the list at the School Supply Kit table at Walk-Through Registration.

The Walnut Grove Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is dedicated to empowering parents and staff to make a difference in the education, health, and safety of students at Walnut Grove.
Please join the Walnut Grove PTA to support our school and the PTA's mission of "making every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children."
The cost of PTA membership is $16 per person or $25 for two adults in the same household. In addition to supporting our school, you'll receive access to our online school directory, the ability to request a free printed copy of the directory, and a PTA membership card that you can use to receive discounts -- like free kids' meals or discounted notary and hair salon services -- at many Pleasanton merchants.
As a Walnut Grove PTA member, you will also have access to membership perks offered by the California State PTA and the National PTA.
You can join the PTA during online registration or at Walk-Through Registration.

Please donate to the PTA's
Dollar-a-Day annual campaign
The Walnut Grove PTA would like to invite each of you to contribute to our Dollar-a-Day annual campaign.
100% of your donation will support our students here at Walnut Grove! Dollar-a-Day donations pay for the fall and spring musicals, library books and additional library hours, playground equipment, science lab materials, art programs, student assemblies, family fun events, technology, teacher support, the spelling bee, the science fair, student intervention, and much more!
Our suggested tax-deductible donation is $1 for each of the 180 days in the school year -- that is, $180 per student or $250 per family if you have multiple students at Walnut Grove. However, any amount you donate is very much appreciated and will be put to good use.
You can donate to Dollar-a-Day during online registration. If you missed that opportunity, don't worry -- you can also donate during Walk-Through Registration!

Walnut Grove's 3rd annual Parent's Night Out will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, from 7 to 11 pm at Handles Gastropub in downtown Pleasanton.
The ticket price includes appetizers, a non-alcoholic drink, a raffle ticket, and live entertainment.
Please come out and join the Walnut Grove community on this fun-filled evening. Advance tickets are $20 per person. At the event, tickets will cost $25 each.

On the first day of school, right after drop-off, the Walnut Grove PTA invites parents to catch up with friends, make new ones, and hear what our new principal, Jan Steed, has to say -- all while enjoying a cup of coffee!
Come join us at the Walnut Grove Multi-Purpose Room from 8:15 to 9 am on Monday, Aug. 25.

Back-to-School Family Social
The Walnut Grove PTA invites families to join us for a community-building family social on Friday, September 12, from 5 to 8 pm at Walnut Grove. Come join us for dinner, dancing, and catching up with friends.
Food Truck Mafia will provide on-site food trucks for those who wish to buy dinner and/or dessert. Or bring your own picnic and enjoy the music and company. It's a great time to reconnect with other Walnut Grove families as we begin the school year.
