September 19, 2014

Dear readers and writers,

As the Executive Director of Literary Arts, I want to personally share some exciting news with you.

In December 2013, Wordstock approached Literary Arts to discuss the future of their Festival. Over the past nine months, our organizations have worked closely to decide how best to build on Wordstock's history and produce a world-class festival here in Portland. Literary Arts looks forward to collaborating with the writers, publishers, volunteers, and funders who have supported the festival over the past nine years.

I am pleased to announce today that the Wordstock Festival has become a program of Literary Arts, and that we will re-launch the festival Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Portland Art Museum.

I invite you to join the conversation about Wordstock, as you are all important stakeholders. Literary Arts values your feedback as we prepare for the year ahead. You can find important information on our website, as well as a form to contact Literary Arts directly. For the most current news and updates, follow Literary Arts on Facebook and Twitter

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing the literary community come together at Wordstock 2015.

All the best,

Andrew Proctor

Executive Director

The Wordstock Festival is a nine-year-old program that brings thousands of readers together with small presses, independent publishers, nonprofits, independent booksellers, and authors. Literary Arts is excited to re-launch the Festival as a one-day event on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Portland Art Museum in Downtown Portland. We are committed to an annual festival for the next three years as a pilot project.

This re-launch is made possible by three concurrent grants from The James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation, the Meyer Memorial Trust, and the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. Literary Arts also depends on tax-deductible donations from individuals and sponsors. Please consider contributing your support today:

Founded in 1984, Literary Arts is a community-based nonprofit literary organization located in downtown Portland. This year we're celebrating 30 years of serving Oregon's readers and writers. Our programs include
Portland Arts & Lectures, one of the country's largest lecture series; Oregon Book Awards & Fellowships, which celebrates Oregon's writers and independent publishers; and Writers in the Schools, which hires professional writers to teach semester-long creative writing workshops in Portland's public high schools. We also host guided discussion groups around great works of literature through a program called Delve.
