Coming September 28 @ MCCDC

ANNOUNCING TEACHER-STUDENT APPRECIATION SUNDAY

"It is not that I'm so smart. But I stay with the questions much longer."

            ~ Albert Einstein

There is something that great students and great teachers have in common: they ask great questions. One great question for MCCDC: How much do we value our students and teachers? Our love for our students and teachers is difficult to quantify, yet I'm pleased to announce September 28 as Teacher-Student Appreciation Sunday! We value our students and teachers so much that we have designated the final Sunday of this month as a special day to recognize these leaders in our church and community.

I believe that learning and education are the open door to being the change we want to see in the world. Though I'm a big Nationals baseball fan, I believe that our greatest champions are students who get up early to study before class and the teachers that inspire those students to become lifelong learners.

Invite your student and teacher friends to join us at 9am & 11am on September 28. There will be special features in the services to honor them, including a gift to them from MCCDC. We will honor students of all ages and grade levels: our wisdom keepers and our keepers of the future. Frankly, I'm curious to find out who our oldest student is so that we might celebrate this one who embodies the values of growth and vitality through all the stages of life.

You will also experience a powerful testimony from two of our teachers as they respond to the question: "How does your faith make you an excellent teacher?"

This Sunday our scripture from Matthew 20: 1-16 poses the question: "Can a loving God be unfair?" That's a question that could even keep Albert Einstein awake at night! See you this Sunday, September 21 and again on September 28 for Teacher-Student Appreciation Sunday at MCCDC. MCCDC is the place to be for students and teachers of all ages.

See you Sunday!

Faithfully,

Adoremos y Alabemos a Dios!

On Saturday, September 27, Unid@s, the MCCDC Hispanic/Latin@ outreach ministry, will once again hold its monthly worship service at 6pm in the sanctuary here at MCCDC. We will have wonderful music, liturgy, great food and fellowship. Rev. Alberto Njera will be our celebrant and preacher who will deliver Jesus' Good News of radically inclusive love. This will be a special service as we will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15).

The service will be mostly in Spanish; however, the Scripture readings and the sermon are usually translated into English.  So whether or not you are a Spanish speaker, please come and celebrate this joyous occasion with us! For more information, contact Tom Simmons, Ministry Intern, at [email protected] or (202) 638-7373.
