Dear Friend,

One down, one to go.  Fundraisers that is...well, actually, one is an extension of the other.  After the initial count, we sold 87 wreaths!  Congratulations to all who helped make this such a successful campaign!  We really were under pressure since we had to start 2 weeks earlier than we had planned, but you stepped up and we did very well.

Next step:  Christmas Ornaments.  Thanks to the lovely photography of Jonathan LaChance, we have some stunning images of our stained glass windows.  We have created a collection of glass stained-glass ornaments from the windows in our historic church.  This year's ornament will be the first in that collection.

We will have a table in the lobby of the church outside the book store beginning 11/30.  (see link below to sign up).  You can also sign out ornaments to take to friends and neighbors to sell as well.

Our church home, St. David's, really does love you and is so supportive of your mission to serve God in His kingdom.  I pray it is as much as a blessing to you to be a part of this as it is to me.

~God's Peace,
I can help sell!                                                     Duana Cisney

St. David's Youth Ministries ~ Text Messaging System = Remind101

In response to so many requests, St. David's Youth Ministries is doing a test run on "Remind101".  This is a text messaging system that schools use.  It's simple and easy to use.  I will not blow up your phone...that is my promise!  Please know that students have been asking for text messages to keep up with what's going on and this is in response to them.

To sign up/opt-in, simply text: @stdavid to (512) 920-5566
You may unsubscribe at any time by replying: 'unsubscribe @stdavid'

Please share this information with your student in case they don't check their email as often as you do!

Cross Words

Patience is hard.  Technology malfunctions can make me want to pull my hair out.  Patience with technology malfunctions.... does that exist?  Technology can be a really good thing.  I'm a "techno-geek" and proudly so; however, when it doesn't work, I feel like throwing something out of the window.  I experience even more frustration when online systems say things like: "Thank for your patience while we fix..."  Really?  I don't have that patience!  And, by the way, I'm not real happy about you interrupting my work flow! Does anything like this happen with you?

Consider this:
"My brothers and sisters, think of the various tests you encounter as occasions for joy. After all, you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let this endurance complete its work so that you may be fully mature, complete, and lacking in nothing"
Getting mad at a website or system seems silly, but we rely so heavily on these products in our lives that it's hard not to get frustrated.  And this is just one life example.  I think it's difficult to see those times as a gift or 'occasion for joy' as it is suggested in James.  But what if we could?  What if we took that as an opportunity to just step away and get a new perspective?  What if that challenge is a way of God reaching out to us to connect in a different way at that moment?

Praying you find a holy connection to God in those things that challenge
you this week...
