Westland Welcomes New Parks & Recreation Director 
Westland, MIThe City of Westland has hired Jessica Larkin Mistak as the new director of the Parks and Recreation Department after being nominated by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. 

Jessica served as the Public Relations Officer for the Wayne County Department of Public Services for seven years before accepting the position of Deputy Director of Wayne County Parks, where she has served for the last two years. 

"Jessica is exceedingly well qualified to lead and advance our Parks and Recreation Department," said Mayor William R. Wild. "She deeply appreciates and understands our outstanding parks and parks facilities, and he has a wealth of experience managing facilities and athletic fields and developing productive relationships with the Parks Department's user groups and partner organizations."

Jessica received her Master's in Public Administration from Wayne State University and has a bachelor's degree in Labor Studies from Wayne State University. 

The appointment is effective on December 1, 2014.
