Youth Ministry News

Plus Upcoming Events
Greetings!  Below you will find a collection of dates already on the calendar as well as some thoughts to ponder.  You should receive these emails by Wednesday of each week and there will be information in them through the following Tuesday.  It is my hope that you will participate in as many of these offerings as you are able.  I would also like for us to get creative and build other opportunities for fun, fellowship, mission and ministry!

St. David's has many avenues and ways for you to get plugged in.  The items below are just a few of those ways; some for youth specifically and some for the larger community.  I probably have more questions than you do at this point, but please send them my way and I'll do my best to get you the answer!

I look forward to meeting everyone....please introduce yourself to me when you see me so that I can know you better.

July 31Youth trip to Schlitterbahn!

Aug.  1:  First Fridays:
The first Friday of each month St. David's hosts a Labyrinth Walk that is free and open to the public. There is a short meditation at 6 p.m., and facilitators are available to assist those who have never walked a labyrinth. There is music, candles and a prayerful space in the midst of the city. A labyrinth walk usually takes about 20 minutes, but you are invited to stay for prayer and meditation as you feel called..

Cross Words
Consider this:

"No one has ever made himself great by showing how small someone else is."

Do you know anyone who does this?  Maybe without even realizing it?  It's hard when that happens.  What do you do?  What can you do when you hear this happening to another?

The Bible says:  "We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.  Each of us must please our neighbor for the good purpose of building up the neighbor."
Romans 15: 1-2

What does that mean for us?  I'm not sure, but maybe it means I should lift up and support the things my friends are doing.  That when they tell me something exciting, I should be excited with them and jump on their "joy bandwagon". Lifting up others can mean we don't talk about ourselves...at least at that moment.

Praying you have a fantastic week and lots of chances to celebrate your friends!
