Michigan Pet Fund Alliance Mission
The single mission of the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance is to stop the killing of healthy and treatable homeless cats and dogs in Michigan shelters.

We are an all-volunteer organization collaborating with shelter and rescue organizations to achieve No Kill through training, technical assistance, education and advocacy.

Kroon Grants for October

Budgets of rescue groups are often stretched thin with medical costs for the pets they save. Help is available via the Judith Middleton Kroon grant program. October's list of Kroon recipients is here

These animals all have been rescued from Michigan shelters by Michigan Certified Rescue organizations. Having arrived with various medical challenges that shelters often can't deal with, they have had their medical costs covered in part by the Judith Middleton Kroon grant program. Most are now in adoptive homes, but several are awaiting a new family.  Read their heart-warming stories here.

Additional grant funds are available to Certified Rescue organizations for animals with any of these criteria:

  • sick or injured
  • behavior issues
  • classified as "rescue only" by a shelter
  • age 7 or older
See how your group can benefit from the program here.

November is Adopt -a-Senior-Pet-Month

During Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month, take the opportunity to get acquainted with the older pets available at Michigan shelters and rescues. Dog in cage shelterSenior pets offer many advantages. Often their histories, personalities, and any special needs are known, enabling a good match with adopters' lifestyles. They may already be trained, have out-grown chewing, and are generally calmer and quieter.  In most cases they've lived in a home, and through no fault of their own (divorce, change of jobs, relocation, owner's death) are in need of a new one.

At animal shelters and rescue groups everywhere, there are loving, healthy senior pets looking for that one special home to cherish them for the rest of their life, and they don't ask for much: just a warm place to sleep, good meals and plenty of love. And with another Michigan winter around the corner, who wouldn't want an extra foot-warmer on the bed?
