or make sure to log your miles in the log book in the fellowship hall each
Sunday for the previous week!

TOTAL MILES REPORTED SO FAR:

6877.71 MILES!

BONUS MILES FOR WEEK 8:

WEEK 8 DEVOTIONAL:
"This is what the Lord says:
stand at the crossroads and look;
Ask for the ancient paths,
Ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
And you will find rest for your souls."
-Jeremiah 6:16

"Stand at the crossroads and look" for a different path. It is often good for the body, mind and spirit to change directions and walk a new way. It might be as simple as walking around the lakes clockwise versus counter clockwise. This week, if you walk as exercise, you might try jogging. If you swim, you might try boxing. Spend an hour in the quiet of yoga if you habit is Zumba class! Consider how you might just find 'rest for your soul.'

Have an awesome week! Enjoy the sweat in the chilly air!

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email us, your "tourguides",
Emily Jackson (jackson.emily12@gmail.com) or Janet Grace (janetg5887@aol.com).

The students had a great time at UT's Fall Fest held on Friday, October 31st!  24 Kids Hope volunteers were there to spend the afternoon with their child!  It was a joy to watch them walk (or run!) hand in hand from game to game.  Big hugs go to Summer Clarke, Ki Addison, Tori Primeaux, Melissa Nguyen, Brycen Daniels, Chelsey Geeting, Janis Kyle Roux, Jorian Baucom, Chrissy Pitre, Alexis Urch, Caroline Palmer, Doreen Maxcy, Hannah Roberts, Zach Dawes, Monelle Wells, Mariel McLaughlin, Natalia Gomez Junco, Larry Miller, Parker Weeks, Madi Ramsey, Kristen Pavlick, Emma Meckfessel, Alex Arlitt, and Emma Fletcher for coming!

Special thanks goes to Gladys Brown for not only suggesting the fabulous idea for the October teacher encourager gift, but also for donating the funds for them as well!  The teachers were most appreciative of their candy goodie bags that helped give them an extra burst of energy to make it through the week!

THE PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY NEEDS YOU!!!!!!

[ click image to view larger  and see what yarn is available! ]

Our prayer shawl "nook" is running low on shawls and lap blankets! If the idea of making an item for someone that carries such meaning appeals to you, please consider becoming a part of our ministry. If you don't crochet or knit, but would like to learn so that you can help with this ministry, we will be glad to teach you! Currently our prayer shawl makers work on these items at home on their own time and then drop off the completed shawl to the church office. We say prayers with each stitch made, and before giving the shawl away the group attaches a card to the shawl letting the recipient know who made it and who requested it to be given to them. We currently have a large supply of yarn and knitting needles and crochet hooks available in Kelly Surace's office for those that would like to make shawls for our group, please stop by and pick up some today!

Who do we make prayer shawls for?
Those within our church family who are in need of strength while undergoing medical procedures; those in need of comfort after a loss; those in need of peace and patience during an illness and recovery; those in celebration of graduation, a marriage or a birth of a child...There are endless possibilities!

How can I request a prayer shawl for someone?
Call the church office and talk to Kelly Surace or Carol Civils  - 225-344-0343. Or drop either of them an email: kelly@universitymethodist.org or carol@universitymethodist.org

In the last few weeks we've given out quite a few prayer shawls! As the weather gets cooler even more people will think to request them. Remember, we can only give out as many shawls and lap blankets as people make and donate to our group!

In order to be able to continue this great ministry, we need people like YOU to take part and make shawls and lap blankets (knitted, crocheted, woven, quilted, sewn, etc!) Please contact Kelly Surace in the church office if you would like information on helping make prayer shawls or would like to donate to our group. We hope that some of you will join us!
