Spartanburg tourism group receives

national Readers' Choice Award

Hosting major sporting events and teams from across the country continues to reap rewards: the Spartanburg Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) was recently notified it received another Readers' Choice Award by SportsEvents Media Group.

"We are honored to be one of only two winners in South Carolina," said Chris Jennings, Director of the SCVB. "This is the second time in three years we have been recognized for our sports tourism work, and we want to thank all our partners throughout Spartanburg County."

Jennings cited the new Tyger River Park sports complex, and the work of Sales Associate, Kristyn Smith, as integral to the SCVB's sports tourism success:

"Kristyn joined us less than two years ago, and has made quite an impression with tournament directors, sports event planners and housing bureau representatives for her professionalism, industry relationships and customer service. She is bringing a lot more business to Spartanburg!"

Sports event professionals were asked to name the sports commission, convention and visitors bureaus, or sports events venues that they believe display exemplary creativity and professionalism toward the groups they host. Nominations were received from readers throughout the year, and the top picks were selected based on the results from an online voting system.
