The Pinterest boards have book cover images and descriptions, and if you click on a title, it will take you to that eBook in our eBook collection at Overdrive. You can also go directly to our eBook collection at bcsdmc.lib.overdrive.com to see and check out eBooks. Check out eBooks using your library card number (bar code on the back of your card) and PIN. Tax Forms and Publications

The IRS is sending way less materials to us than they usually do. They will be sending one reference copy of Publication 17 to each library. They will be sending some of the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms, but they are not sending any instructions. You can go to  irs.gov/orderforms to have the IRS mail you up to 10 items, but they will not send Pub 17.

Major Reorganization Project at the Carnegie

With the assistance of many enthusiastic volunteers, the staff of the Carnegie History Center is conducting a major project to make the library's collection much more accessible. In the past, the collection has been arranged according to the traditional Dewey Decimal System. However, this system is not optimal for genealogy researchers and is not used in many genealogy libraries. The numbering system can seem complicated and obtuse to genealogists.

Carnegie History Center

The preferred method of arrangement is alphabetical by state and county, since most genealogical information is located by "location." That is, information about ancestors is usually traced by researching documents and records that originated in the states and counties where they lived.

Therefore, the Carnegie History Center is conducting a tedious and time consuming relabeling and rearranging project to convert the collection from the numerical to the preferred alphabetical arrangement. Much of the work has been successfully accomplished, and the final stages of this worthy endeavor will be completed soon.
