May 2016
Summer is approaching and we have many wonderful events to celebrate the season! Coming up in June we have the 10th Annual Heroes for the House 5K and our 30th Annual "Swing for Kids" Golf Tournament. Then, on July 15, you'll want to join us for our 12th Annual Pop Tab and Coin Drop on Monument Circle as we attempt to break a Guinness world record for the most aluminum can tabs recycled in 24 hours!

As always, we're incredibly grateful for the opportunities provided by supporters like you and our wonderful partners who make it possible to host these events and keep families close when they need each other most. I am looking forward to seeing many of you this summer as we are out and about sharing our mission and message in the community.

Take care,

Michelle Study-Campbell, CEO

A Light in the Darkness
When Jacki Caudill was suddenly diagnosed with a dangerous and life-threating condition known as pre-eclampsia, doctors knew they had to act fast. At just 28 weeks pregnant, the risk associated with premature birth meant that her child's best chance for survival would be at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis. Scared and confused, Jacki was life-lined from St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood, IN, to IU Health University Hospital for an emergency caesarean section delivery.

On February 20, 2012, Jacki and her husband, Aaron, welcomed their baby girl weighing less than 2lbs, and just 12" in length. Her arrival was so unexpected that the Caudills had yet to even decide on a name for her. "The days to follow all became a blur, but the one thing I knew for certain was that I was not leaving her side," says Jacki.

12th Annual Pop Tab and Coin Drop on Monument Circle

You've been collecting and we've been waiting. It's almost that time of year again to gather your collection of pop tabs and join us on Friday, July 15, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at our 12th Annual Pop Tab & Coin Drop on Monument Circle!

This event is fun for all ages and includes food, games, live music, and even an appearance by Ronald McDonald! Adding to the excitement this year is our attempt to break a Guinness world record for the most aluminum can tabs recycled in 24 hours. Haven't had time to collect any tabs but still want to make a contribution? We've got you covered. Along with the pop tab drop, we will also be holding a coin drive. So, keep collecting those tabs, start saving those coins and come make a difference!

Thank you, Katie!

RMHCCIN would like to thank Katie Duckett for hosting the 5th annual Mother's Day Tea Party at the Ronald McDonald House at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

The Mother's Day Tea Party was created by Katie Duckett, a former Riley Hospital and Ronald McDonald House mom, in 2011 when she experienced her first Mother's Day at Riley while her daughter had open-heart surgery. "I felt it was important to honor the women experiencing the same things I was five years ago and offer a little respite and a token of appreciation for the moms of children who are currently receiving treatment at Riley," says Katie.

For five years now, moms have had the opportunity to take a break from their child's hospital room and enjoy some delicious treats, teas and specialty gift items. This wouldn't have been possible without Katie's vision and drive to continue to help make RMHCCIN a home-away-from-home.
