TODAY'S GAME PLAN
Training Hard; Practicing the Beatitudes
We explored the 8 Beatitudes and learned why it is important to put them into practice if we are going to become a Champion for Christ.

If we want to be good at something, we must practice and train hard. Great athletes will work hard to strengthen their physical muscles.

Picture during our opening song. The kids know their moves!

What we did today at the 5 FAITH STATIONS:

1) COMMUNITY CORNER

Virtue Of The Day : Fortitude

We learned about fortitude, which is when we are brave and strong in the midst of our trials.
We saw in our demonstration how a feather can be thrown about in the wind, but a weight stays firmly planted like we should in our faith.
We read "The Little Engine That Could" to further illustrate fortitude.

Saint Of The Day: Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati

The Saint of the Day was Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.

Saint John Paul II named him, the "Man of the Beatitudes"
Because he lived the Beatitudes with all his heart.
His Feast Day is July 4th.

This strong, athletic young man, who loved to mountain climb,  defended his faith
and had a great love for the poor.

2)  BIBLE STORY

Today's Bible Verse:

"I can do all things in Him who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

In the faith station, we learned another Bible verse song.
Just as the Commandments teach us to love God and one another,
so do the Beatitudes.
The Beatitudes are 8 lessons that Jesus taught us.
If we practice them, they will help us live an awesome, joyful life.

TODAY'S PRAYER

"Lord Jesus, we love you.
Thank you all your graces, especially during the times we need them the most! Teach us how we can practice the 8 Beatitudes in our lives each day. Help us to remain strong in body, mind and spirit. Amen."
.

3)  MUSIC STATION

Another fun filled day in Music today! It is awesome to see all ages embracing the words and actions. The songs learned were

"Courageous" and " Rise Up."

At closing ceremony we had another outstanding performance,
this time by the 3rd and 4th graders performing "Patience"

Below is the schedule for when each grade level will perform their VBS song for the remainder of the week.
Thursday opening 9:00 am - Kindergarten
Thursday closing 11:45 am - 2nd grade
Friday opening  9:00 am - 1st grade
Friday closing 11:45 pm - Pre-K
(Pre-K practicing for their big performance pictured below)

Have your kids put on a performance for you at home, they are fabulous.

4)  CRAFT STATION

Students completed a mosaic of all the beatitudes

Your kids get to take their crafts home every day so be sure to have them show you and tell you what they learned!

5) SNACK & GAMES STATION

An extra hot day for our "Cathletes" as the surged through
an obstacle course. They were challenged to navigate a balance beam, slide, tunnel, hurdles and a trampoline to make it to the finish line.
They learned  "fortitude" and to be brave and strong in the face of trials.

Snack today was Animal Crackers and Banana,
and lots and lots of water!!!

GetREAL

Today we talked about training hard to be a follower of Jesus.
To do this we studied the Beatitudes.

The 10 Commandments are God's list of what NOT to do while the Beatitudes are God's list of what we SHOULD do.
If we do these things we can be great followers of Jesus.

After snacks and skit time we learned about 5 different saints that really lived out the Beatitudes as followers of Jesus.
