Alarm Bells Were Ringing at Corinthian
Wall Street Journal
The collapse of Corinthian Colleges Inc. is raising questions about the Obama administration's aggressive handling of one of the country's largest for-profit education companies, which was hemorrhaging money before regulators cut off its federal funding. The Education Department says it was unaware of the dire state of the company's finances before it moved June 12 to restrict access to federal student-aid dollars, which made up 80% of Corinthian's revenue.
House Republicans Roll Out Series of Higher Education Bills

As promised, House Republicans began introducing a slate of bills Thursday afternoon aimed at overhauling the Higher Education Act, a behemoth law that encompasses the entire federal student loan program.

Guerilla Educators
Here is another terrific Project from 6th graders at a working class, suburban Philly middle school that demonstrates STEM in action as well as anything that took place this school year.  Like the "Imagine" Project, the focus is on sustainability and the built environment.
  
STEMedia
A couple of years ago Nehemiah Mabry, an engineering grad student at NC State University, started an initiative called STEMedia. The goal is to creatively inspire students in the technical fields using media and the arts. Their message is the encouragement of passion, creativity, persistence, and excellence.
  

U.S. Census Bureau's Statistics in Schools Early Adopter Program

The U.S. Census Bureau needs K-12 math and social studies teachers to provide feedback on classroom materials related to data literacy. Be a voice for your fellow teachers on the types of resources you need to empower your students to succeed.
