Chisago Lakes welcomes new Branch Librarian Kirsten Vaughan
Co
ngra
tulations to Kirsten Vaughan, new Branch Librarian at Chisago
Lakes Area Library. She was recently promoted from her previous
position as the Branch Librarian in Hinckley, replacing Branch Librarian
Elizabeth Shirek who took a position with the Anoka County Library.
Kirsten
is wo
rking on her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where she expects to graduate in December 2016. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Liberal Arts with a mino
r in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Since February 2011, Kirsten has served East Central Regional Library in various positions including roles in technical services, interlibrary loan and public services. Having served as the Outreach Librarian in Isanti, she most recently was the Branch Librarian in Hinckley. Kirsten also is serving as a Community Representative for the Digital Public Library of America. Prior to joining ECRL, Kirsten worked as a Student Librarian at the Jim Dan Hill Library at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Kirsten is excited about her new position and returning to the community that she considers home. And she can hardly wait for the new Play and Learn Space that will be unveiled in Chisago Lakes and expanding teen services in Chisago Lakes.

Join us for official unveiling of new
Play & Learn space in Chisago Lakes
A new Play and Learn space for children and families is coming to the Chisago Lakes Area Library. Community members are encouraged to check it out during an unveiling at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, immediately following storytime.
The Play & Learn space will encourage children and their families to engage in the five basic early literacy practices of the Every Child Ready to Read Initiative: sing, talk, read, write and play; recognizing the library's commitment to providing spaces and educational experiences that enrich community life.
Funds for the new Play and Learn space were provided by the City of Lindstrom's Earl L. Andersen Memorial.
