Party with Us at the State Fair!

We're heading back to the CA State Fair in Sacramento next month and need volunteer arborists July 8th - 24! Watch our video from last year, it's awesome.

Lots of changes this year!
  • NEW building!  We'll be in Expo Building 2.  It's smaller and more geared toward kids. Still air conditioned!
  • Our SHARED STAGE means more breaks for our volunteers!  We have a different layout this year. Our stage and our climbing arena will be separate, but we won't have a formal Ask the Arborist booth. That means we're combining our Ask the Arborist position with our Climbing volunteer position.
  • NEW HOURS:
    • Mon-Fri
      • 3:00-4:30 pm
      • 5:00-8:30 pm (break from 6:30-7:30)
    • Sat-Sun
      • 12:00-4:30 pm (break from 2-3:30)
      • 5:00-8:30 pm (break from 6:30-7:30)
  • Volunteers will assist in the kids climbing arena, helping fit climbers in their saddles and helmets, and teaching them to use our simple blake's hitch climbing system.
Help us share the power of trees with State Fair visitors and earn 2 CEUs...  sign-up today!

Sign up early to ensure you get your ticket and parking pass in the mail.  Late sign ups are welcome but tickets will need to be picked up at fair will-call.

New Study Finds California Street Trees Worth $1 Billion

Streets lined with gold? Not exactly, but a new report from the U.S. Forest Service's Pacific Southwest Research Station estimates trees lining Californian streets and boulevards provide benefits to municipalities and residents worth $1 billion.

"Structure, Function and Value of Street Trees in California, USA," published in this month's issue of "Urban Forestry and Urban Greening," is the most up-to-date and comprehensive inventory of "street trees" within California. Using municipal inventories analyzed in i-Tree, a computerized tree inventory and management suite, researchers were able to create a composite picture of not only the number of California's street trees, but also their species, size, location and associated benefits.
