CHIA President's Message
Ready-Set-Go! Poised for Action and Success
Message from CHIA President Deborah Collier, RHIA

The 67th CHIA Convention & Exhibit provided inspiring, enlightening and empowering information. Many thanks to the Convention Committee, staff, speakers, exhibitors and all the attendees for making this a successful convention. Kudos to the presence of all of the Student Volunteers at convention who joined us to volunteer, network and attend educational sessions. Let's continue to support HIM students---gems becoming our future leaders in HIM!

The incoming and outgoing CHIA Board met on Saturday prior to convention. We reviewed business items related to results of the Board self-assessment survey with regards to opportunities to improve, computer upgrades needed to effectively support CHIA operations and services, positive financial snapshot, webinar pricing with recording option, and fees for the confidentiality seminar. Detailed updates will be available soon on the CHIA website.

The House of Delegates (HOD) had some great enthusiastic discussions and suggestions, which included defining tactics for each of the CHIA strategic goals and a discussion on CLA governance by exploring the option(s) for change. In particular, we look forward to the continuation of our efforts with your input for tactics to move forward with achieving outcomes for our strategic goals.

We are Ready-Set-Go to be poised for action and success!
New ONC Videos Explain Patient Rights Under HIPAA
ONC and OCR have developed resource tools, in English and Spanish, to explain important patient rights to individuals and health care providers. Three videos and an infographic are available online and can be posted to providers' websites or shown in doctors' offices and clinics to explain the process for getting the information or transferring it to apps patients use to track their health, what formats are available, and the fees and wait times patients can expect.
