Seniors a Go Go making a difference!

Barbara recently relocated to San Diego from Connecticut. Although she is now closer to family, there have been some unexpected challenges. Her tiny apartment needed modifications to accommodate her physical needs, and she struggled to find public transportation to get back and forth to medical appointments. But Barbara is resourceful. She found ElderHelp online and was connected to a Care Coordinator. After assessing her needs, we dispatched John, a Home & Garden volunteer, who made her living space more manageable. Another volunteer, Pam, is helping with grocery shopping, and Barbara is now a member of Seniors a Go Go so she can get to the doctor.  Barbara tells us, "ElderHelp has been so supportive but this is the first time in about 60+ years I've been without my own "wheels." The rides to medical appointments have allowed me to actually keep them. All is well. Pam is wonderful and John did an excellent job with the safety grip, etc. - I was so impressed with him." We love supporting Barbara and thousands like her in San Diego!

Volunteer Game Night 

April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month, and ElderHelp celebrated our wonderful volunteers by hosting a game night!  After pizza and salad, volunteers enjoyed rousing games of Cranium, Bananagrams and Catch Phrase.  But the real highlight was hearing the meaningful stories each person shared about the rewards of volunteering for ElderHelp. Volunteer Information is available on our web site and the next volunteer orientation will be on Saturday, May 14th at 9 am.
