INTRODUCTION TO IMPROVISATION CLASSES for KIDS
For ages 8 - 14

WHAT IS IMPROVISATION:

Improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up in the moment. Often improvisers will take a suggestion from the audience, or draw on some other source of inspiration to get started as in the TV Show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?".

With improv, kids learn how to:
Be positive
Become more creative
Focus on the people they're working with
Take risks
Overcome shyness

Other benefits:
Sometimes in life things can go awry so being able to think on your feet is a skill that translates well beyond the theater. Improvisation can increase your reaction time, body awareness and even your ability to give a speech at school.

This class will be a fun, creative and very supportive environment for kids to learn how improv works by learning the fundamentals of story structure, timing, and how to build interesting characters. We also will play many theater and improv games.

Each week you will participate in stretching your creative mind, tapping into skills you did not know you had using your mind, voice and body. If you're shy or nervous, no worries this class will assist you in over coming in a relaxed and supportive environment.

CLASS INSTRUCTOR: Suzi Williams

Suzi Williams is a 1989 graduate from Emerson College. Suzi was a shy high school student who could not do a speech if her life depended on it. After being in many improvisation shows in college, Suzi gives speeches frequently at work and has been praised for her ability to speak in front of large crowds and to think quickly. If she can do it so can you.
