India Launches Third Navigation Satellite
|
India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C26) lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on October 15 and put the Indian navigation satellite, IRNSS-1C, into its pre-designated and perfect orbit. The first two satellites in the series, IRNSS-1A and IRNSS-1B, were launched on July 23, 2013 and April 4, 2014, respectively.

Kailash Satyarthi shares the honor with 17-year-old Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai. Satyarthi and his friends founded Bachpan Bachao Andolan ("Save Childhood Movement") in 1980, and over the last 34 years they've been involved in the rescue of more than 70,000 bonded child laborers.

World Bank: Indian Economy to Grow by 6.4% in 2015-16
|
With economic activity buoyed by expectations from the new government led by Prime Minister Modi, the World Bank says the Indian economy is set to grow by 6.4 percent in 2015-16, up from 5.6 percent in 2014-15. "India is benefiting from a 'Modi dividend,'" the bank said in its South Asia Economic Focus report.
