  • Port Towns Farmers Mercado Opening: This month marked the opening of the Port Towns Farmers Mercado! Thank you to all who came to support the mercado. We ask that you continue to support the mercado every Saturday. Stay tuned for a blog post about opening day on our Facebook and website.
  • Water Mitigation Project at the Edmonston Farm: We've been busy at Edmonston putting in drainage pipes for our water mitigation project. Proper drainage is crucial to maintaining healthy soil and veggies. This project was funded by the Chesapeake Bay Trust.

Fundraising for Double Dollars:
We are currently fundraising for the double dollar program  to offer Maryland Market  Money which offers 'double dollars' for low income customers. These vouchers effectively double their spending at the market by matching up to $5 in spending each week. I f you or your group would like to contribute to meet the needs of financially challenged residents to get more fresh produce, please contact Amanda at amanda@ecocityfarms.org .

Get a Bag of Fresh Local Produce Every Week!

NEW DC PICK-UP LOCATION!
Thursdays at the All Souls Unitarian Church from 4-7pm. Location:  2835 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20009

The season has started and ends September 15 2016. Shares are still available and those who join now will be offered a pro-rated price. 

ECO City Farms offers weekly farm shares (also called CSAs) of locally grown produce through the farm share program. Members sign up and pay for the entire season ahead of time, then pick up their share of produce each week at designated locations.

Each week is a different mix of produce, depending on what is in season. Taste the difference that freshly picked, chemical free, locally grown produce can make. Support your local urban farm and support your health with an ECO farm share!

LARGE SHARE - ECO Farm Share
6-8 items/ week
Cost: $22/week with purchase of 22 week season = $486
Contains: Produce exclusively from ECO which is Certified Naturally Grown.
Prince George's County residents receive a 10% discount! (cost is $437=$19.88/week)

SMALL SHARE - Eat Local Farm Share
4 items/ week
Cost: $13.50/week with purchase of 22 week season = $297
Contains: Produce from ECO and other area sustainable farmers*.
Prince George's County residents receive a 10% discount! (cost is $267=$12.15/week)

EGG SHARE ADD ON
Supplement your share with a dozen eggs every two weeks. Cost: $55 ($5 week)
Eggs are from a local producer and are pastured.*

Seeking Microgreen Intern
   
ECO is seeking a microgreen intern. Learn how to grow, harvest, process, package & market microgreens. Enjoy the freedom to experiment w varieties (at managers discretion). 

Mondays are mandatory for harvesting, processing, packaging & seeding (8am - 2pm, preferred). Additional days to learn daily care and maintenance optional.

Water Up! Info Booth
 
The Water Up! project aims to reduce the high risk of obesity/diabetes by encouraging the residents of Langley Park to improve their health by drinking more water and reducing their intake of sugar-sweetened beverages. This project is funded through the Avance Center for the Advancement of Immigrant/Refugee Health at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. ECO is partnering with this Water Up! to do information booths at Crossroads Farmers Market.

Volunteer Days

Open volunteer hours are in full effect! ECO City Farms serves the community and without the incredible help of volunteers like you, we could not exist. Volunteer days are Saturdays from 9am to 12pm . 1st and 3rd at the Edmonston Farm and 2nd and 4th at the Bladensburg Farm.

We offer free public tours at 12:15pm after volunteer day. Please contact Kayla (kayla@ecocityfarms.org) to register to join!

Volunteer day on Saturday, June 18 has been moved to the Bladensburg Farm. We'll be working to get the youth garden ready for the summer youth program.
Riverdale Park Farmers Market
Thursdays 3-7pm
ECO has a regular farm stand at the year-round  Riverdale Park Farmers Market . The market is outdoors, perfect in this beautiful warm weather.  Enjoy the live music and conversation. Come visit our stand and chat with farmer Deborah about what's in season and share your yummy recipes. 

The Riverdale Park Farmers Market is  located in the MARC train station parking lot (4650 Queensbury Road Riverdale Park, MD 20737).

Port Towns Farmers Mercado
Saturdays 11-3pm 
The market is now at a new location with a new name for 2016!  We are happy to announce a new location for the 2016 season of the Port Towns Farmers Mercado!  It will be located at 4521 Kenilworth Avenue in Bladensburg


Crossroads Farmers Market
Wednesdays 11-3pm
We're now at a third market this year. ECO is returning to the Crossroads Farmers Market for the 2016 season after four years.
