What's New in Sedona, Arizona
Travel Trade eNews Summer 2016

Dear Industry Friends,

In the high-tech, fast-paced world of today, it's easy to forget about the little things that can bring families together. In the summer particularly, families take the time to be together on vacations, but seldom leave the real-world stresses behind. While in Sedona, however, everyone can escape to unplug and connect.

Seize the opportunity this summer to reconnect with the great outdoors. Take a hike or a swim. Catch a fish or a nap. Play some golf. Climb a boulder. Kayak a river. Bike down a mountain. You may get dirty and you may get wet. You'll definitely create some warm delicious memories.

Yet beneath Sedona's rugged exterior lies a soft core of comfort and luxury. A bevy of elegant motels, hotels and resorts are waiting for you. Not to mention rejuvenating spas, excellent restaurants and boutique wineries. Play like a kid all day in Sedona. Then relax like an adult when the sun goes down.

For adventures large and small, families can have plenty of options when they make Sedona the hub for vacation getaways. Though the sights and explorations may provoke some serious social media envy, Sedona will make families forget the chargers at home and take in the natural beauty.

Please let the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau assist you with information, itinerary ideas, and in obtaining rates and information from Sedona businesses.

We look forward to welcoming you and your clients to Sedona, the Most Beautiful Place on Earth, in so many ways!

Sedona Services
VOC Arts Annex Opens its Doors
Sedona Arts Center continues its mission to bring the arts community together and expand creative opportunities.  Its latest exciting development is the opening of a satellite co-op gallery and community arts space in the Village of Oak Creek.  Known as the VOC Arts Annex, this temporary space is located at the Collective, and is being operated by two dozen local artists and volunteers.

"Sedona Arts Center has a 60-year history of supporting Northern Arizona artists and working to develop creative community," Sedona Arts Center Executive Director Eric Holowacz said. "This new satellite space extends our outreach to the south, and has already helped us make hundreds of new creative friends. We invite everyone to stop in, share ideas for the Village, and think more about what we can do together."

Sedona Stargazing
Enjoy meeting your planetary neighbors - Mars, Jupiter and Saturn with its rings, and their moons - in the starry sky over Sedona, Arizona in May, June or July.  Sedona Stargazing will be observing these three planets "live" on all scheduled tours through powerful telescopes with professional astronomers wielding high powered laser pointers. In the dazzling Sedona sky, stargazers will use large telescopes to view galaxies, star clusters, nebula, double stars, and other luminous objects.

The Sedona area is among the best night-sky-observing places in America. The town lacks "light pollution" and is designated an International Dark Sky City.

A Sedona stargazing tour includes an overview of the constellations in the night sky led by a knowledgeable and humorous astronomer - speaking in down-to-earth language, using a high-power laser pointer, and telling stories of what ancient civilizations thought about the constellations.  All guests get an up-close view of six or more objects through a state-of-the-art telescope, and are encouraged to ask questions.
Sedona Stargazing operates all year long, but only on evenings when the starry sky is vividly visible. For stargazing comfort, chairs and blankets are provided.
