GREETINGS                           June 16th, 2016
Dear Church Family

This Sunday is Father's Day.  I'm so pleased that at my last Sunday at Marshall, I will have the opportunity to pay my respect and appreciation to the men of our church family.  We have a small gift for each man.  I hope we have Dads and sons together.

I just returned from the States after my graduation.  The shocking events of the mass murders by the ISIS terrorist at the gay bar was all over the news broadcasts.

Perhaps you are unaware of our Muslim neighbours celebrating Ramadan.  It is a month of fasting from sunup to sundown, where they are to fast and observe their religious rites.  Then at Sundown, they may feast until morning. This is the time we should be praying for our Muslim neighbours, as well as throughout the year.  With refugees coming into our city, may we continue to be a Lighthouse to our community.

Love in Christ,

Maryella

Case for Kids
Thanks to Joe Savelli, the donors and the participants for making the 2016 Wesley Case for Kids Campaign a success.  Our congregation pledged $1,900 toward efforts being made to conquer youth poverty in Hamilton.

Jenny Mae
The Sunday School has been doing a great job supporting our sponsored child, Jenny Mae, who lives in the Philippines.  But we are a little behind in our givings.  By June 19 th we should have sent Jenny Mae $360, but we are currently $48 behind schedule. Any bit extra you can spare for Jenny Mae will be appreciated.  And don't forget, we will still be supporting Jenny Mae over the summer holidays!   To meet our year-end goal of $468 by September 11 th, we need to continue to share $9 a week with Jenny Mae.
A jar for Jenny Mae is on the offering plate in the sanctuary for those who don't attend Sunday School but would like to support our sponsored child as well.

From the Library
The July/August Upper Room is now available.

New Minister
As you heard last Sunday, Presbytery approved our appointment of an interim minister.  Rev. Harry Disher will be joining us for the next two years. Harry was ordained by Hamilton Conference in 1977 and has served as a congregational minister in the Maritimes (Nova Scotia), in Eastern Ontario, in London and for thirteen years in Grand Bend.  Then he retired into Interim Ministry and has served Exeter United for two years, and Riverside United in London for the past eight months in a time of transition.  He is a trained Educational Supervisor for candidates for United Church Ministry and a trained Spiritual Director.  He is recently remarried now for two years to Diamond Fotiadis and they live in London, Ontario.  He will be travelling in Scandinavia for most of July but very much looks forward to being with and walking alongside Marshall Memorial come August on the path of discernment towards a different future after Robin Wilkie's long-term ministry among you.
