Celebratory Homegoing Services for Dr. E. Edward Jones

Information regarding the Celebratory Home going Services for Dr. E. Edward Jones.... beloved pastor of 57 years.
Thursday, June 16, 2016 The body will arrive at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at 12 noon to lie in state until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at 1500 Pierre Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103. At noon, the Galilee Baptist Youth Drill Team will be present to salute their beloved late pastor, as the hearse arrives at the church. Galilee Boy Scout Troop # 301 and Galilee Girl Scout Troop #1611 will walk in front and behind the casket. A member of the church will bring in the Jones Family Bible, which belonged to the father of the late Dr. E. Edward Jones, Sr. State, Parish and local law enforcement will accompany the arrival and stand guard as the body lies in state.
At 5:30 p.m. the Omega service conducted by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, will be held at the church. Dr. Jones was a charter member of the Delta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, at then, Grambling College.
At 7 :00 p.m., the church and the community honors their pastor and community leader in a worship and remembrance celebration.
At 11:00 a.m., the final Service of Celebration will begin, led by the National Baptist Convention of America, International, Inc., President Rev. Samuel C. Tolbert, Jr. Dr. Jones was the 13
th
President of this organization, giving leadership from 1985 to 2003. He served in various leadership capacities within the organization for a total of 36 years.
Dr. Jones has built a legacy as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, pastor, community leader, civil rights activist and denominational leader, locally, state wide, nationally and worldwide. He has been a lover of people both near and far, always concerned with improving the condition of humanity.
At the close of the Friday service, the hearse carrying the body of the late Dr. Jones, will take a pre-determined route through the Allendale community including a drive by the edifice of the old Galilee Baptist Church at 854 Williamson prior to interment at Lincoln Cemetery, Shreveport, LA.
