Market Updates

All of the hot weather we've been having lately is great for summer's ripening fruits and vegetables! I saw tomatoes, sweet corn, garlic, and even tiny watermelons at market last week. This Saturday, two longtime vendors will come back for the season:  Kiyokawa Family Orchards will return with peaches and cherries, and and Kimberly Farms with all sorts of organic vegetables.

We'll be joined by on-call vendors Ancient Heritage Dairy, Dancing Light Ranch, Homegrown, Olympic Provisions, and Reverent Nat's Hard Cider.  Hammer and Tuffy is also back, after a week's vacation, with their delicious gluten-free granola.

With all of these vendors returning to market, we've had do a little shuffling of stalls to fit everybody in. If you don't see your favorite vendor, it's likely they're still at market but may have moved to a new spot for the summer. Volunteers in the Info Booth at 44th and Hancock are always happy to help answer questions about the location of vendors' stalls.

This Saturday, July 19th is our second annual Senior Day! Many of our vendors will be offering discounts to seniors (65+); see below for a full list of vendor discounts. Additionally, we'll have a market tour (open to people of all ages) starting at 10am, leaving from the information booth at 44th and Hancock, and music from the Rose City Banjoliers.

Last Saturday our kids' cooking demo chef Joanna Sooper of Turnip the Heat Cooking School led our market sprouts in making a fresh pea "pate" and a carrot-raisin salad. Check below for the simple recipes! Remember, this is part of a monthly series of kids' cooking demos running every month this season. The next demo will feature peaches, and will be Saturday, August 9th, from 9:30 to noon.

See you at the market!

Featured Products

Sun Gold Tomatoes
Winter Green Farm
Sweet, juicy, and delightful! The perfect snack, great in salads and as a colorful garnish.

 Seasonal Tacos
Nourishment
Whether it's duck confit or braised lamb shoulder, Ramona at Nourishment (the breakfast burrito booth) has been outdoing herself every Saturday with an ever-changing taco menu. She tries for the taco fillings to be 100% locally-produced, and adds in more unusual toppings like pickled kohlrabi as a way to turn people on to new things. This Saturday (maybe) - carnitas tacos!

Chorizo
Sweet Briar Farms
Sweet Briar Farms has chorizo sausages, which vendor Keith describes as "bratwurst with a bite!" You can grill them up and eat them on a bun or cut them up and mix them with your eggs.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream
Scoop Handmade Ice Cream
The tastiest way to cool your tongue on a hot Saturday morning! Salted Caramel is one of their most popular flavors. They always make sure to have a sorbet on offer for vegan customers, and the majority of their flavors change weekly.
