Happy Thanksgiving!  St. Augustine's will hold a Thanksgiving Eucharist at 10:00 tomorrow. We will meet in 215, our normal worship space. We home you will find time to "gather together to ask the Lord's blessings."

With the lighting of the Advent wreath, Advent begins this Sunday, the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, and ends on Christmas Eve. The first Sunday in Advent is also the first Sunday in the new church year.

The word Advent means Coming - the coming of the Baby Jesus and His return again to put the world to rights. Christians follow a four-week plan of praying and scripture-reading during Advent. The prayers focus on personal devotion, commitment, submission and repentance, and turning toward GodIf you would like to know more about the history and  traditions of Advent, go to From the Website, and click on Advent 2014: What is it all about? There you will also find an on-line Advent devotional series from Trinity School of Ministry. (Sunday, each member will receive a hard-copy booklet of Trinity's devotion.)

As in the past, as an Advent discipline, we will distribute mite boxes for donations to the Anglican Relief and Development Fund. This year, we are donating funds to provide clean water to communities all over the world.  Go to From the Website below for resources and more information.

In October, our parish made a commitment to raise our giving 40 percent for the coming year. With this significant step forward, we seek to expand our missions and to secure a more permanent worship space for our Kingdom Work in central Ohio and across the world. As many already have noticed, this parish is growing - not solely in numbers - but in grace and faith in Jesus. God bless us all as we draw nearer to our Lord in what we say and do.

On this Thanksgiving day, let us give thanks for the dedication of the members of St. Augustine's to the Lord and His Kingdom.

We Gather Together

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing;
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!

We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be;
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
