Pulitzer Prize winners and nominees make up the list of authors who will present during the 2016/2017 season of the Deschutes Public Library Foundation's
Author! Author! literary series. Season tickets go
on sale July 1 for the series, which includes
Katherine Boo ("Behind the Beautiful Forevers"),
Anthony Doerr ("All the Light We Cannot See"),
Siddhartha Mukherjee ("The Emperor of All Maladies") and
Dave Eggers ("A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius"). A full season is just $80 for all four authors, and all money raised from ticket sales goes toward the support of library programs and services.

Standing Tall While Sitting Down

Kacey McAllister lost both his legs in an accident when he was five, but he has never stopped figuring out how to rise up. "I learned that life is to be lived, not just survived," he says. Kacey competed in a 50-mile hike, made it to a state wrestling championship, became an Eagle Scout, and competes in marathons. He's also an incredible motivational speaker. Meet him at the Downtown Bend Library on June 21 at 2:30 p.m. This free event is open to all ages.

Summer used book sales are coming! The Friends of the Bend Libraries hold their summer book sale on July
July 3 and
July 4; the La Pine Friends hold theirs
July 1-4; and in Sisters, the Friends have their annual sale on
July 9. Be sure to stop by for great deals!

This fun program is perfect for kids ages six and up. July 5 in Redmond and Sisters; July 6 in La Pine and Sunriver; and July 7 at East Bend.
