| Real Questions from Real People |
Why does Peterson Road, between Rte. 83 and Rte. 60 have 4 speed limit changes in approximately 3 1/2 miles?
The speed limits along this roadway were recently studied following the work that was completed last year. The results of the required speed study will be brought to the Lake County Board to approve new speed limits which we will put in place following the completion of the current construction activity.
Once the road work is completed the speed limit will be 45 MPH from U.S. Route 45 to IL Route 60. The 45 MPH speed limit is the recommended speed limit due to the presence of curb and gutter being adjacent to the traffic lanes.

We have 8 spots left in the AARP Defensive Driving Class scheduled May 12 and May 13. Call the Township at 847 223-2847 to sign up for the AARP Defensive Driving Class. You must attend both days from 9 am to 1 pm.

The Fremont Library will be closed all day for staff training on Friday, April 22. They will reopen on Saturday, April 23 at 9 a.m.

Peterson Road
While the majority of the work for this project was completed in 2015, crews are back on site for some remaining work. They will be grading the medians, planting the medians, finalizing all remaining landscaping, and placing the permanent pavement markings. The traffic signals are scheduled to be installed starting next week.
Daily lane closures are planned while the remaining work is finished. Please use caution when driving through the construction zone. Watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the job site.

ComEd has seen an increase in reports of individuals calling ComEd customers and falsely claiming their electric service will be disconnected unless payment is made. These impersonators instruct customers to buy a prepaid credit card and call back to a different phone number with the personal identification number (PIN) or other personal information. They also use a tactic called "spoofing" to manipulate the Caller ID displayed phone number so that it appears as a ComEd number.
Remember ComEd representatives will never call you to ask you for cash or request that you purchase a prepaid credit card to make a payment on your bill. If you have concerns about the status of your account, call ComEd's Customer Service line at
1-800-334-7661
(1-800-EDISON1).
If you believe you have been the target of a phone scam, ComEd urges you to contact the Illinois Attorney General's office at
1-800-386-5438.

| Beware of Ruse Burglaries |
Every spring we hear of the ruse burglaries in Lake County. This is just a reminder to be on guard for this.
The burglars will sometimes pose as traveling handymen or utility company workers (phone company, water company, county assessor etc.). The subjects will attempt to gain entry from a homeowner through some sort of ruse (Ex: a water pipe is broken down the street and they need access to the basement), and while the homeowner is distracted, their accomplices are committing a burglary.
They also drive the area looking for people working in their yards and subjects will enter your house through an unlocked door while the homeowner is unaware outside.
Working in groups of two (2) or three (3), a woman and child will approach a homeowner and ask if the child can use the bathroom. The unsuspecting homeowner allows the child to use the bathroom and the woman will distract the homeowner while someone else enters the home and commits a burglary.
The Fremont Township Highway and Assessor's employees all have ID's, and unless there is an emergency do not work on weekends.

| New Building for Fremont Highway Department |
The Fremont Township Highway Department maintains 40 miles of road and had not had any additions to their facility since 1979. When you drive by the township, you will see their new building. 
One of our highway employees used the leftover wood to build these to store the signs and barricades.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) now has a new space for their trailer and supplies.

Hawthorn Woods residents can meet Mayor Joe Mancino and Village Officials at the Hawthorn Woods Country Club 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday April 23.

Mundelein High School presents Thoroughly Modern Millie April 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and April 30 at 2 and 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students, children and seniors. Tickets can be reserved here, or purchased at the door
45 minutes prior to curtain for each performance.
The MHS Mustang Football Team annual Lift-a-Thon fundraiser is being held on Saturday, April 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mundelein High School. Players will be competing to lift the most weight possible in three different categories, while collecting pledges from family and friends. All funds raised at this event will be used to send our players to a football summer camp at Carthage University.
Mulch Sale at Mundelein High School
The Boys and Girls Basketball Teams at Mundelein High School will be having their annual mulch sale to benefit their sports teams on April 30 - May 1 and May 7-8. The sale will be held in the West parking lot of MHS on these Saturdays (April 30 and May 7) from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and on the two Sundays (May 1 and May 8) from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Mulch (brown, dark brown and red) will be sold in bags for $4.25 per bag or 4 bags for $15.00. Natural mulch will be sold for $3.75 per bag or 4 bags for $13.00.

Park-on-Park the 16th annual cruise night season opens May 11 at the corner of Park and Seymour Streets, and continues on the second Wednesday of the month through September. | Fremont Township Food Pantry |
Fremont Township operates a food pantry. If you are aware of Fremont residents in need, please refer them to our office.
Our pantry accepts monetary, food and non-perishable donations from local residents and businesses.
Donations can also be made to the Fremont Township Community Garden. The Garden provides fresh produce to our low income seniors and food pantry clients. We appreciate the generosity of our community.
We are currently in need of cereal and breakfast items, toiletries and cleaning supplies. |
Pace Dial a Ride Expansion of Service

Ride Lake County Central Service is a new curb-to-curb dial-a-ride service, for eligible residents, in the central Lake County Townships of Fremont, Shields, and Libertyville, and the Villages of Mundelein and Libertyville. The Ride Lake County Central is a new program which takes an exciting step toward Lake County Coordinated Transportation Services Committee's (LCCTSC) goal to create a borderless transportation service in the county and builds off of existing township, village, county and Pace partnerships.
These programs are now curb to curb 5 days a week.
The cost is $3.00 each way for trips under 10 miles for disabled and/or senior
and $6.00 each way for trips over 10 miles
To make a reservation and to register, just call 1-800-201-6446 24 hours in advance.
Passengers may make reservations 7 days in advance for work, medical appointments and College of Lake County trips. If you cancel you must provide at least 2 hours notice.

I continue to receive phone calls that scammers are phoning in our area. Please speak with your spouses, parents, grandparents and friends about these scams. The phone calls sound so real and many people get scammed.
Microsoft Scam: Scammers claim they are from Microsoft and need access to your computer to fix something. Microsoft will never call you. These people want access to your computer.
Grandparent Scams: Scammers contact victims claiming their grandchild is in some sort of trouble. They ask the grandparent to send money and not to tell anyone.
IRS or U.S. Treasury Scams: Scammers claiming to be an IRS agent and threatening to have victims arrested, deported or revocation of business and/or driver's license, if immediate payment is not made.
Property Tax Scams: Scammers send letters in the mail claiming the County will take victims homes if they don't pay the delinquent taxes on their property. In each Lake County case seen so far, the homeowner is paid in full and NOT delinquent on their taxes. If you receive one of these letters, you do not need to take any action if your taxes are paid in full. If you have any questions or want to check the status of your payment, you should call the Treasurer's Office at 847.377.2323..DO NOT contact the person listed on the letter.
Deed Scams: Some Lake County Residents have been receiving letters from a company calling themselves, "Local Records Office" in which the resident is told they can be provided with a copy of their deed by mailing in an $89 service fee!
These letters ARE NOT from the Lake County Recorder of Deeds office and this is a SCAM!
You can get a copy of your deed, or other recorded paperwork, from Mary Ellen Vanderventer, Recorder of Deeds office for $1 per page, or no fee if you are a Senior Citizen or US Veteran! Call 847 377-2575.
Jury Arrest Warrant Scams: Scammers contact victims advising victims they missed scheduled jury duty and a judge issued an arrest warrant. Scammers have even named judges sitting in the 23rd Circuit Court. Scammers claim to be "Captain Allen" and direct victims to obtain prepaid credit cards, call back and read the numbers off the prepaid credit cards to "settle" the warrant.
Warrant Scams: Scammers contact victims claiming an outstanding warrant for parking or driving violations is issued and must be paid immediately over the phone or an arrest is imminent.
FOP Scams: Scammers contact victims claiming to be from the Lake County Sheriff's Office Fraternal Order of Police. Any attempt made to solicit funds via telephone, mail or in person by anyone identifying themselves as a representative of the Lake County Sheriff's Office should not be considered legitimate.
Bereavement Scams: Scammers scour the obituaries and contact victims who recently lost a loved- one claiming the deceased had unpaid bills or debts that must be paid right away.
Sweetheart Scams: The scammer befriends the victim online or in person and expresses romantic interest. While romancing the victim and earning their trust, the scammer may gain access to personal and financial information. Sometimes the scammer will ask the victim for emergency loans to pay off a bill or their rent. When the scam is over, the victim is left broke and broken-hearted.
