Let's take a good look at Father's Day, shall we?
Father's day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June. But why? SUNday is the day of Our Father who art in heaven because the Sun is the masculine polarity. MOONday is the day of the Mother.
The third SONday in June is very close to the summer solstice when the Father's strength is at its greatest as he casts the greatest amount of light over the northern hemisphere near to OUR LADY's home sign of Cancer. This is when the Sun is at his northernmost declination (position) above the earth's equator at about 23.4 degrees. This is why we get most sunlight in the northern hemisphere at the summer solstice. From this point, OUR LADY (the Moon) takes over making earth and nature more passive until the winter solstice.
'Solstice' (Latin: 'solstitium') means 'sun-stopping'. The point on the horizon where the sun appears to rise and set, stops and reverses direction after this day. On the solstice, the sun does not rise precisely in the east, but rises to the north of east and sets to the north of west, meaning it is visible in the sky for a longer period of time.
Many sacred sites reference astronomy and astrology. In other words, they symbolize everything under the SON. When we look north over the Great Pyramid on the summer solstice, the SON burns exactly above the apex. The Great Pyramid points to the SON's strength and significance.
All traditions and civilizations celebrate (d) the SON at the time of his greatest strength. Many temples, public buildings and other structures were precisely aligned with the shadows cast by major astrological phenomena, particularly the summer and winter solstices.

The summer solstice varies each year between June 20th and 22nd. This year the summer solstice is Monday 20th June. Where I live (Knoxville, Tennessee, USA), the summer solstice occurs this year at 6.34 pm eastern time.
