Funeral Saturday, June 18
James (Jim) Wooldridge, a member of Grace Church for 65 years, from birth until moving to Hendersonville, NC, in retirement 30 years ago, died on May 19 and will be memorialized at Grace next Saturday at 11:00 am and his ashes buried at Riverside Cemetery directly following the service. This is a sad time, but his wife Nancy and other family members are looking forward to being at Grace again and would appreciate seeing church members and others that they may have known when they lived here. They were very involved at Grace, and Jim served on the Vestry and as Senior Warden for two terms. Jim and his three brothers served in WWII and are named on our memorial "window." Please join us, if you are available.

Help Wanted!
GraceWorks is looking for a volunteer to take responsibility for local sales and marketing. This would involve looking for appropriate venues and retail outlets for displaying and selling our handmade products, as well as reaching out to churches, etc., that might take advantage of our screen-printing services for T-shirts, tote bags, aprons, and stock or custom-made cards. Come and help us make a difference in someone's life and hopefully make a difference in our community! Please let Alice Nichols or Charlie Ross know of your interest.

Saturday Evening Eucharist and Concert
Grace Church had an opportunity to invite a musical duo--
B & B on the Rock
--
to perform a sacred concert in Hopkinsville on Saturday, June 25, at 5:00 pm. Their performance is entitled "Women at the Well," and what follows is their description: "Women at the Well is a musical meditation, a concert, and an experience: A collection of songs written from the points of view of some of Christ's women disciples . . . Since the inception of the program in 2000, musicians/songwriters Brenda DeKeyzer Lowry and Joshua 'Bubba' Murrell have presented their original music in churches, parish halls, private homes and at retreats and labyrinths in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Maryland, West Virginia and beyond . . . Who were the women who followed Jesus? Mary sings her baby to sleep and sings of the Universal Miracle of Birth. The woman whose faith led her to touch His cloak to receive healing shares her discovery of the power of love. And the unnamed woman who baked the bread for the Last Supper shows us how all gifts are important, and we are all miracles. You will hear from the woman at the well in a blues song as well as from the women waiting at the cross, and others who walked in the footsteps of Jesus. These women tell their story through song. Some of the music is quietly contemplative; some elicits laughs and the urge to dance along. The program encourages introspection, thought, and a realization that we have a lot in common with these women of 2,000 years ago."
A decision was made to take this concert opportunity as a time to initiate a monthly Saturday evening Eucharist. On this occasion the Eucharist will precede the concert--at 4:30 pm.
If the weather is pleasant, both the Eucharist and the Concert will be held at the labyrinth. If not, both will be in the nave. There will be a reception following the concert.

Interfaith Worship
In these uncertain and, too-often, violent times, when hostilities toward those perceived as being "different" seem to be growing, it is incumbent upon us as Christians to reach out to other groups and do our part in developing understanding and greater unity. Toward that end, we are exploring the possibility of a regular time for people with different belief systems to come together for spiritual sharing through worship experiences designed to be relatively short, inclusive, and incorporating sacred scripture from various traditions and using the common language of music and meditation. We hope that we will have a number of people in this congregation and others who would like to contribute. If you are interested in possibly working with us on this endeavor, let Jim Garnett or Wayne Eastham or Alice Nichols know. We will be calling a planning meeting shortly.

Kindergarten Update
Wow, hard to believe that the kids have been gone for a month! Registrations are slowly coming in, and, at this point, we still have a few openings at each age level. Spread the word whenever you have an opportunity to do so. Grace School is going strong!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
We had a great meeting with Becky Rochford and Chris Hansen, from Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville, on June 5. Attendance and interest were very positive, and the Spiritual Formation Group will be working on next steps to familiarize more people with this wonderful program of Christian Education for children so that we can move toward developing a firmer foundation of support as we seek to grow our program at Grace. Disaster Preparedness
(Due to illness, Ed Bryant was unable to be with us on June 12. The plan at this point is to reschedule later in the summer.) The Episcopal Church, along with many other denominations, is encouraging all churches to develop disaster preparedness plans. Episcopal Relief and Development has developed a
Preparedness Planning Guide for Congregations and Parishes, and the
Diocese of Kentucky has a Diocesan Disaster Team that works with churches in developing congregational disaster plans. Here in Western Kentucky we are all too familiar with the destruction that can suddenly occur from weather-related events, and a significant piece of Grace Church's history is the story of the tornado a number of years back. Ed Bryant, a parishioner at Ascension Church in Bardstown, is our Diocesan Co-coordinator.

Recording at Grace Church
Our nave is being used as a recording studio! Jeff Calhoun, a musician at FUMC (acoustic guitar), attended a funeral at Grace recently and immediately noticed the incredible accoustics in the nave. He and Rachel Crick, a violinist who has played for us numerous times, are collaborating on a recording, so, there are a number of days in the next few weeks when you might come to Grace and be greeted by a sign on the door requesting that everyone be as quiet as possible. After the project is finished, they have offered to do a concert for us!

Kroger R
e-Registration
Have you received a card from Kroger telling you that, if you are participating in the Community Rewards program, you will need to re-register August 1? Yes, it's apparently true. So, mark your calendars and make the update. Money that we have received for Grace School from Kroger has not been insignificant, and, any that we continue to receive will be placed in the Tom Schmidt Memorial Fund. Re-registration is easily done online. Simply log onto
www.kroger.com/communityrewards
and search for Grace Episcopal Kindergarten or enter 88636 and link your card to our school. Then check your next Kroger receipt at the bottom to make sure that it indicates a contribution to Grace Episcopal Kindergarten.

Another way to financially support our school is to save BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION from the labels of many items that we use frequently. We recently sent in a batch which will bring in $150. It's a lot of work for a little bit of money, but every dollar counts! Start saving BOXTOPS now for our next submission in about six months.
