Welcome to BUSINESS TALK, the City of Marion newsletter that provides a monthly snapshot of what's happening in your business community.

Business success is essential to the future of the City of Marion as a place to live, learn, work and invest.  
We are here for our business community to:
  • Be your first point of contact at Council
  • Provide local business support services through business associations, including the Tonsley Small Business Advisory Service and the Tonsley Business Support Ecosystem
  • Help you connect with local businesses, skilled people and training providers
  • Offer networking, information and education
  • Lead local initiatives such as Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board, Visitor Economy, Digital projects, Workforce Development

Darlington Upgrade Project - Gateway South

The $620 million Darlington Upgrade Project is the next step in the north-south corridor project and involves the upgrade of a 2.3km section of Main South Road. This project will be delivered by Gateway South and aims to provide non-stop access between the Southern Expressway and Ayliffes Rd/Shepherds Hill Rd intersection. Presentations from the industry briefing breakfast on 11 May 2016 and work packages for this project are available on the ICN Gateway project portal

Register your company on ICN Gateway to submit an expression of interest in work packages. A basic registration is free of charge and you can upgrade at any time for a public profile on ICN Gateway.

Tender Ready for Major Projects

If so, the Department of State Development has developed two workshops for you - one for beginners (one day) and one tailored to the more experienced businesses who are tendering regularly.  The advanced workshop also provides you with the opportunity to gain national accreditation.

Cove Enterprise Hub

Penny Crocker has joined the Business Marion team for 12 months as the   Cove Enterprise Coordinator, whilst 
Marissa Lindsay is on maternity leave. 
Penny has worked in engagement and regional de velopment roles for Flinders University and the South Australian Go vernment and brings a wealth of  knowledge about Southern Adelaide  to the team.
Penny is based at the Cove Civic Centre Monday to Thursday and she can be

SASD Connect is a unique, bilingual two-way trade and investment website developed to connect small and medium enterprises in South Australia with businesses and investors in Shandong (SA's sister-state). It is the result of an MoU signed on Shandong in May 2015 strengthen cooperation between SA councils and Shandong prefectures, and has been developed in partnership between the LGA and the Australia China Business Council (SA).

The website caters for trade and investment opportunities, and businesses can list by industry, region, and includes information about their products/investment opportunities on their profile page. It is a bilingual website, so all content must be provided in English. The English and Chinese versions of the site can be found at www.sasdconnect.com.au and www.sasdconnect.cn.
To join the website, please contact Lisa O'Donoghue  to get the process started. Businesses will be pre-qualified by an expert trade panel before being accepted onto the website.
