A Message from the President
Dear Friends,                                                6/14/16

The end of May and beginning of June bring us face to face with incoming Cougars and allow us to celebrate those we have known and loved these past four years! 71 moved onward and upward; 100%.... having earned 11.1 million dollars in scholarships/grants! They are headed to WPI, Boston College, Arizona State, the US Military Academy at West Point, and 8 of them to Fairfield University as Community Partnership Scholars! Our prayers and best wishes go with them!

Our Class of 2020 will join us in a battle to retain school bus transportation. With cuts in State funding, the strained city budget is looking for ways to manage its bottom line. Proposed cuts include eliminating transportation to KCHS and another private high school. We will make our case at a BOE meeting on Monday. Wish us luck.....and increase prayers!

Lastly, after much reflection and discernment, Henry Rondon has asked to step back into his position as AP of Student Life. Bishop Caggiano has approved our proposal to support Mr. Rondon's request; therefore, I will assume the responsibilities of the Principalship
Again effective July 1st. I am happy to be able to provide stability and continuity of mission and vision.

We will all take a little bit of time to recharge in early July and update you again in August.

Faithfully,
Jo-Anne Jakab

Ambassadors of KCHS
PE Teacher and KCHS, alum, Roderick Ricketts spoke at the Bishop's Annual Scholarship Dinner in Darien.  He told a story of a challenging time during his teen years and explained how prayer, his strong mother and KCHS made the difference in his life, leading him to college and eventual employment at his alma mater.  While we always tout the school's graduation rate and college acceptances, there are many young people who would not have attained those goals without KCHS!

Another grad, Daniela Trotman just completed freshman year at Fairfield University.  She spoke at the Ladies Luncheon for the Inner City Foundation for Charity & Education in June.  Daniela spoke about the relief the foundation provided by providing financial aid when her mother became disabled after a car accident.  Daniela and her twin sister both worked part time throughout high school to fulfill their dream of graduating from KCHS and attending college. Daniela earned an internship at Peoples' United Bank through the ECHO Perfect Ten program. For the first time, they are in different schools; Fairfield University and SCSU.

At the conclusion of the Catholic Academies Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Fairfield, Valerie Bien-Aime addressed the crowd to express gratitude for financial support that has gotten her to a full Community Partnership Scholarship to Fairfield U.  KCHS grads and students are in demand!
Class of 2016 Awards

Track & Field Success
Congratulations to Track & Field members Senior Naseem Foster (top-L) and Junior Onyi Nnodum (top-R) on qualifying for States in the shot put and the 100 meter dash respectively! Naseem went on to qualify for the CIAC State Open meet, the furthest a KCHS track athelete has gone in school history!

Also, congratulations to Chasity Kennedy, Olivia D'Haiti, Onyi Nnodum, and Brianna Davis (L-R bottom) on qualifying for States (and Onyi beating her personal best above) in the 100m and 200m dashes!

The future of Track & Field Team is looking bright as the Cougars are fielding a young, dedicated squad going into it's 4th season next year!
