June 2016

At our recent annual celebration and fundraiser I was reminded of how powerful the human spirit is.  Our story tellers, Ms. Antoinette Edwards, Ms. Shalonda Menefee and Dr. Alisha Moreland-Capuia each embodied the power we all have to make a real difference for another.

Their inspiring words created the perfect setting for our announcement of our new Executive Director, Traci Rossi.  Please read more about Traci here, and stay tuned for an interview with her next month!

As I wind down my time here I want to thank you all for your amazing support and motivation.  My tenure here has been incredibly rewarding and inspiring.  The Innovative Changes community is the manifestation of Ubuntu, ' A person is a person through other people'.  Stay well.

Fondly,
Nancy Yuill
Thank you for all who attended our 3rd annual celebration and fundraiser

On Thursday June 2nd we marked our third annual celebration and fundraiser with the theme, Take A Chance.  Ms. Antoinette Edwards, Dr Alisha Moreland and Ms. Shalonda Menefee, all prominent women from our community, served as storytellers to share their experiences with the power we unleash when we take a chance on someone.  Our board member Felicia Tripp kept our story tellers moving along, and Michael Buonocore nobly guided our program while bringing his own special loving humor to the event.

Thank you to our sponsors JPMorgan Chase, Columbia Bank, Point West Credit Union, Berry Wealth, Albina Community Bank, CASA of Oregon, McDonald Jacobs, Multnomah County, JD Fulwiler, Portland Housing Center, Beneficial State Bank and Leslie Jones.  Thank you to our local businesses who donated their time and products; Matt Howard and Jeremy Larter, the Chefs  and owners of Field Day Catering,  Ninkasi Brewing, Union Wine, Jeff Day Photography, Provitola Artwork and Brian Izenson.   Thank you to our musicians, Brongaene Griffin & Preston Howard for the lovely music.

And to all who attended and donated, thank you!  If you missed the fun, here is a chance to donate! Donate Now

Farewell to Landra Glover

Landra has been a vital part of our Innovative Changes team since 2011.  We wish her the best both professionally and personally as she moves into a new chapter of her life. Saying goodbye is never easy, and is even more difficult with an employee like Landra, who has been such a vital part of our team and the community. We know she will continue to do well and achieve major milestones.
Client Spotlight: Lizbeth!

When Lizbeth met our IDA Coordinator, Stephanie, at a College Possible meeting she "was given hope to make [her] dreams a reality."  Lizbeth is a DACA student, which means she isn't qualified to receive federal financial aid and isn't eligible for many scholarships. The IDA gave Lizbeth the opportunity to attend college without relying on private student loans.
