The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University stands with the citizens of Orlando and the families who have lost or hurt loved ones. Many around the world are affected everyday by terror and violence. Though we may think it happens to "them" and not us, yesterday we were faced with the harrowing reality that violence, terrorism, discrimination and hatred know no boundaries and have hit our own backyard. The need to be inclusive and recognize all people, regardless of their diverse religions, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity is more important now than ever. We at the College of Medicine stand together to counter the currents in our community that seek to divide. The College of Medicine is committed to supporting the needs of the victims, their families, members of the LGBTQ and Islamic communities and the citizens of Orlando.
