Let's talk new perspectives on everyday objects
Join us for the conversation as we explore how artists, when surrounded by the same everyday objects and experiences, are able to reframe or transform how we look at our surroundings. By delving into the taxonomy of an object's material culture and conducting forensic exploration of everyday life, artists reveal shifts in perception and uncover new perspectives on what is hidden to the naked eye. Inspired by the work of Lynne Cohen and Jason de Haan, curator Scott McLeod, philosopher Andrew Lugg, and ROM archaeologist April Hawkins explore the role of the object in their professional practices.
