A Message from Council Member
Bryan Frye...
Back in August 2002, Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened store #1 at 21st & Tyler Road. Next week, this Wichita-based company will open store #200 in Omaha, NE. Freddy's restaurants can now be found in 30 U.S. states with more to come. It is projected that the chain eventually could have more than 600 locations across the country.

Freddy's joins a long list of homegrown successful entrepreneurs who grew into national brands.  So, congratulations to Freddy, Randy & Bill Simon and Scott  Redler for starting & building your vision in Wichita.  We're proud you call this home.

DISTRICT NEWS & EVENTS
Buffalo Park
Dedication Ceremony

Join Councilman Bryan Frye and other City officials and staff for the dedication of the recent improvements made to Buffalo Park.

The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 23.

Bring your kids!

The highlight of the improvements is a brand new interactive splash park that is
themed after the native Kansas landscape; a new shade shelter with picnic tables;
and new restrooms with drinking fountains.

The $1.5 million improvement project is possible due, in part, to a $250,000 Land
and Water Conservation Fund grant through the Kansas Department of Wildlife,
Parks and Tourism.
Animal Control Advisory Board
Animal Control Advisory Board Needs You!

Councilman Bryan Frye is looking to appoint a representative from District V to the Animal Control Advisory Board (ACAB).

The primary purpose of the Animal Control Advisory Board is to provide recommendations to the Wichita Police Department Division of Animal Control, to encourage responsible pet ownership, ensure the humane treatment of all animals,
and promote public safety through the recommendations of animal control ordinances to the City of Wichita, Kansas. The actions of the Animal Control Advisory Board are advisory only.

Members review existing animal control regulations and make recommendations for changes; seek constructive solutions to the concerns of community members
regarding animal control regulations, and assist in providing education to the community.

Kid Power Cafe

This summer Kid Power has teamed up with Wichita Public Schools to be the mascot of the Federal Summer Food Program.

Kansas is ranked 48 out of 50 states for participation. Since Kid Power Cares, Inc. was formed to help Give Kids the Power to Feel Great we think this community coalition with WPS will be an opportunity for the 50,000 students in the school district
to have more knowledge about the program through a new name and logo.

If you know of any children, ages 1 thru 18,
that need breakfast, lunch, or snack this summer, click here to view the list of sites that are safe places to eat and socialize. No paperwork needed...just show up and
