Volunteers Wanted for Canada Day Road Race

Scotiabank Canada Day Road Races presented by Bushtukah is pleased to announce a new location that sees them join in the fun at the Canada Day celebrations in Kanata.

These road races have been a big supporter of the Kanata Food Cupboard in past years, and they continue to support us this year by providing proceeds from the event.

To ensure the success of this event, a large number of adult volunteers is required to act as route marshals along the running route. For more information about this volunteer opportunity, including details on the new location, please visit the Kanata Food Cupboard website.

The Kanata Food Cupboard thanks Run Ottawa, Scotiabank, Bushtukah, and all volunteers for ensuring the success of this event.

Wellness Tips with Therapeutic Effects

yoga-woman-stretching.jpg

Stretching 101

Have you ever wondered why you should hold your stretches for at least 30 seconds? Most stretching that you do should be held from 30-120 seconds to start creating new neural firing patterns which will allow muscle tissue to lengthen over time. Keep in mind that when you hold your stretch it should be comfortable and not painful. If you're tensing to try and get deeper into a stretch, your tissues could become damaged and are less likely to actually lengthen.

Yours in health,
Erin, Karen & Erik
