Annapolis Skyline
Dear Fellows and friends of CSLI Annapolis,

It is the end of the CSLI calendar year.  We graduated 17 Year 1 Fellows and 13 Year 2 Fellows last Saturday (Pictures below); the "Johnnies" (SJC College Students) and "Midshipmen" (USNA Students) have left town for the summer; the last Pastor Luncheon before the fall was held last week with over 40 pastors attending; and two new classes of Fellows totaling over 40 Fellows (25 Year 1 and 15 Year 2) along with 25 midshipmen "Associate Program" fellows have been interviewed, selected, and are now off and reading for the summer looking forward to the fall retreat.

It is a time of reflection on the year past and planning for the year ahead.  Reflecting:  here is the first comment I received after asking our 1st Year Fellows for feedback on the year they just completed:
"I answered the questions as best I could as they were asked.  However, my answers don't begin to express the value that the Fellows program has had on my life. I am so much closer to my Father and know how to more faithfully walk with my Brother, Jesus because of the program.   I have detailed notes from most months of profound things that the readings/audio, especially, led me into thinking about. Often things that I needed to change,  Many times I ended up having sideways thoughts that seemed to not be related to the topic, but the author would say something that I found to be profound. And I worked through it.  Although some of the readings/audios didn't have much value to me, I could understand why they should be in the curriculum.  People are at all different levels. What speaks to one person may not speak to another.  I think the curriculum is just about right."

I can summarize other comments as follows:

> Clarity on where God is calling them to serve
> Calling to open a new CSLI in a new city
> Boldness to go and start a study in their church or home
> Humility to accept a calling that was previously "undesirable"
> Healing of old emotional and spiritual wounds
> Perspective on identity and from Whom that is given
> Direction to step out and become a mentor

Planning:  While the calendar is not provided below as usual, we are working on the calendar for August and beyond and some key events will be:

> Late August - kick off of SJC fellowship
> Late August - SJC Fellowships resume
> Early September - Midshipmen Associate Program retreats
> Sept. 7, first Pastor Luncheon of the new CSLI year (YellowFin at noon)
> Sept. 9-10, Fellows Retreat, Osprey Point, MD
> Sept. 30 - Oct 3, Ken Boa will be in Annapolis with full slate of events to be announced later
> Oct. 13, David Payne will present "A Night with C.S. Lewis" at the Brice House.   Announcement to come later
> Nov. 3rd, Fellows Reunion Dinner at YellowFin, 6:30, with Tom Tarrants as our speaker

So, it is a brief respite for the CSLI Annapolis staff.  :-)

Thanks for all your support.  Lives continue to be changed through your generosity of time, money, and prayers.

Blessings,
Jim Phillips
