 Accessing Medical and Pharmacy Services Outside Hawaii
Summer has arrived, and so has vacation time for many people! HMAA would like to remind you about your options for medical and pharmacy services locally and while traveling outside Hawaii, in order to maximize your coverage and reduce your out-of-pocket cost. Be sure to bring your member ID card and refer to the contact information located on the back. We also recommend locating participating providers in your travel area prior  to your trip.

Cigna PPO

  • Cigna PPO is our participating Mainland provider network for certain medical services and emergency care. This network does not apply to dental services.
  • ESIExpress Scripts is our pharmacy benefit manager, with thousands of pharmacies nationwide for your convenience.
HMAA's  medical plans may provide coverage for emergency or urgent care when traveling internationally. Because we do not have agreements with providers outside the United States, members will be responsible for paying the entire billed charge up front. We will issue reimbursement directly to the member, and not the provider. Non-emergent care in an emergency room or any other setting outside the U.S. is not covered by HMAA. However, telemedicine consultations through HiDoc are available for certain medical conditions. 

Telemedicine Services through HiDoc

HiDoc   is our telemedicine service for 24/7 access to online video and phone consultations, and it makes accessing a physician easy whether you are at home or traveling. HiDoc consultations are an ideal replacement for unnecessary visits to the emergency room and when your primary care physician is unavailable. Consultations are intended for non-emergent situations and prescriptions. Please contact HiDoc toll-free at (844) 423-6242. With no out-of-pocket cost, HiDoc makes seeing a doctor quick, easy and virtually painless.
 
Prescription services are not available internationally; however, a physician may be able to recommend over-the-counter medications such as antibiotics or ointments that may be available in other countries.

HMAA has partnered with a variety of vendors to offer our
