Rhode Island and Maryland Registration Requirements

NAPBS Members,
Over the past several weeks several members have contacted NAPBS for additional information related to any requirements to register their business with a state.

As many of you are aware there are two states that have registration requirements, Maryland and Rhode Island. The statute of each state defines the entities required to register and in the case of Rhode Island imposes penalties for failure to register. Rhode Island and Maryland laws and regulations vary in the language used to define registration requirements all of which should be reviewed with your legal counsel to determine whether your business falls within the intended scope of the statute as well as any risk of registering and/or not registering your business.
