On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!

Your children are invited to attend the fun programs and events we are planning for kids ages 15 months to 12 years. We will explore all kinds of topics like healthy eating, exercise, and more.  The programs are free and open to children of all abilities and will run from July 5th through August 10th.

Some highlights of this summer's events include (watch for date and times):

·      Kickoff - Storytellers Davis Bates & Roger Tincknell - "Summer Reading Song & Story Celebration"

·      Robert Rives t - "Healthy Choices, Healthy Lives" - This is a high energy comedy program in which health and humor go hand in hand.

·      Jim Manning - "Reading Olympics" - This show will contain Jim's signature brand of balloon artistry, magic, comedy, storytelling with lots of audience participation.

·      "Motion Commotion" - We will be moving; hula hooping, jump roping, etc. - Participants will get to decorate a hula hoop that they can take home (registration required).

·      "Fueling your Engine" - A day of food related crafts and games. Participants will be asked to bring in one piece of fruit that will be made into a fruit salad to be shared with the group.

·      Picnic finale and prize giveaway

The public library cares about your children and has planned programs to keep them reading and learning all summer.  Whether counting the amount of time your children spend reading or the number of books they have read this summer, children who join the summer library program keep their brains active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and ready to succeed.

These fun activities are offered this summer to motivate children to discover the personal joy of reading and to showcase the reading achievements of our community's young people.  In addition to supporting children reading independently, the program offers support to the family that reads together.  All children will receive a raffle ticket when they sign up for the program.  At the picnic finale tickets will be pulled at random and when their name is drawn, they will then be able to choose a prize at the summer reading store.  Children unable to attend the picnic can come to the library anytime after the picnic to choose their prize.  Children must register for the activities that require sign up to participate in that activity.
