SENIORS ACTIVITIES ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY

Postmedia plans to publish a Seniors Activities & Programs supplement in the August 2016 issues of Today's Senior (Edmonton Journal) and Living 50 Plus (Edmonton Examiner). For this supplement Postmedia is open to ads focusing on activities, events, health and wellness programs, nutrition services, recreation programs, and volunteer opportunities for seniors.

The information sheet provides details on costs, deadlines, and ad specs. ESCC has arranged a meeting where a Postmedia representative will explain the advertising opportunity in more detail and answer any questions you have. You're not required to attend the meeting in order to participate in the ad supplement.

PROVINCIAL AFFORDABLE HOUSING STRATEGY ENGAGEMENT

The Government of Alberta is developing a strategy to improve the affordable housing system and ensure Albertans will have affordable housing options in the future. Affordable housing includes the Seniors Self-Contained Program and Seniors Lodge Program. 

Albertans are encouraged to review background documents to learn more about Alberta's affordable housing system and provide input that will inform the strategy by completing an online survey.
BOLAND NOT-FOR-PROFIT SECTOR SURVEY

The Boland Survey of Not-For-Profit Sector Salaries and Human Resource Practices provides the only source of comprehensive and affordable labour market and compensation data for the nonprofit sector. 

Results from the survey allow non-profit organizations to make informed decisions about compensation and other HR practices. Only participating organizations are eligible to purchase the survey reports. The survey will be open until September 1, 2016.

NEW HORIZONS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM INFO SESSIONS

In anticipation of the 2016  New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) Call for Proposals, the Government of Canada is hosting information and grant writing sessions to help with the preparation of applications. Two sessions are scheduled for Edmonton (June 14 and June 28) and there are some teleconference session as well.

Through NHSP organizations may be eligible to receive a grant of up to $25,000 per year for projects that ensure seniors will benefit from, and contribute to, the quality of life in their communities through active living and participation in social activities.
ALBERTA CULTURE DAYS GRANTS

Alberta Culture and Tourism invites community event planners and organizations to apply for a Celebration Site Grant for Alberta Culture Days 2016. Alberta Culture Days runs September 30 to October 2, 2016. The deadline for applications is June 24, 2016.

The Caregiver Support Program offers a supportive place to address the challenges of caring for a senior. Caregivers can locate and access resources, navigate the healthcare system, complete necessary forms, access financial assistance and obtain respite services. Participate in one of the weekly facilitated caregiver support groups:
