Thanks to our friends at Miele, the 4 th annual Kips Bay Breakfast brought out the best in our industry for bite-sized morning treats and coffee served from the house's kitchen.  Sold out days before, with more than 100 registrants, this much-anticipated event with NKBA Manhattan Chapter was still fielding calls the night before the event!
Guests wandered the rooms at their leisure and relaxed on several terraces in the morning sunshine.  Of all the parties in the house, and there's a cocktail party almost every night of the run, the Breakfast has become a stand-alone revelry at the top of a market day, very much looked forward to by the early-risers among us! A grateful thank you again to our hosts at Miele and to the Kips Bay Decorator Show House, now in its 44th year.

  FROM THE PRESIDENT

As designers our impact on the comfort and well-being of human lives is largely due to making sure we solve issues and make interior spaces practical and convenient for our clients. This month we look at the design considerations for pets, who represent a special focus in many of our lives.

As beloved members of the family, our pets have certain considerations we need to address to make sure their daily lives with us are as comfortable as possible. For many of us, our pet is the child or children for whom we care just as much about their daily comfort and well-being as we do our own.

This month we're excited to present our chapter event devoted to designing for these special creatures. On June 16 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm we will hold our "designing for pets" program, "Design Unleashed: Adapting Interiors for People and Their Pets," at the InHouse Kitchen * Bath * Home showroom. Join us at 200 LEX for this event as we embark on a fun-filled journey about creature comforts. Partnering with Wood-Mode Cabinetry and Bide-A-Wee, InHouse Kitchen * Bath * Home will host a fun and interactive presentation sharing design concerns for pets.

Cabinet companies understand our pet food storage needs and they have designed creative ways of storing food and water bowls off the floor and hidden away into built-in cabinetry and have designed creative ways for easily dispensing food to our pets as well.

Bide-A-Wee will be bringing along a few four-legged friends to mix and mingle with attendees and we'll be giving away several pet-focused prizes.

Even if you do not have a pet as a precious member of your family, come on out, pick up your doggy bag and take home some pet design tips for your clients. It promises to be an informative and fun-filled event.
